Shikigami no Shiro III

I has an intermediate boss battle between the two halves of the stage, plus your power level varies with the coin value (maxes out at 10,000), you lose power if you die.
II has always maxed out power, as you have seen, and no intermediate boss.
III has the hi-max system. Instead of a bomb, if you use a weapon stock (spot the reference!) you can get 10 seconds of fixed x8 values, without bullet-grazing. Since you get a stock back when you die and when you extend, tactical suicides (three cheers!) can play a huge role.

Quick question about the 360 version: are the online leaderboards screwed up? Unless I'm missing something really obvious, most of them don't have any scores posted and those few that do - three or four, at the most - only have a single score registered on them.
I could be doing something wrong when viewing them, I suppose, but I can't see what.
Similarly, my own scores don't appear to be uploading.

The Fighting Stick Wii is like a Classic Controller; the Remote slips inside and communication with the Wii console is still done wirelessly.
My Japanese copy has the GameCube controller icon on the back (along with Nunchuk and Classic Controller) so it would be pretty dumb for the US version to not include it.

Oh, really? I remember when it came out several people told me that the Hori Wii stick plugged into Gamecube ports and wasn't wireless, so I haven't cared about it since. Maybe I'll pick one up after all now.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

You might want to try at your local GameCrazy store and ask if they sell the HTF Hori Gamecube controller for a mere $9.99 USD...I snagged one at that price some time back and worth every penny. Even the Hori GCN controller box was even printed in English! ^_~Mr.Stripe wrote:Did everyone know that the Wii version is 30 bucks?
Pretty good deal if you ask me.
I hope I'm not restating something that's already been said though.
Also does anyone know where to get the gamecube hori pad for cheap?

Yeah they did, and they even used the word shmup!Django! wrote:That's pretty much what I'm doin. Supportin it.PepsimanVsJoe wrote:So what's the word on this game?
I'm picking it up regardless(gotta support western 2D shooter releases) but eh..
IGN gave it a good review.

I'm stoked; I loved Shiki 2. Gonna ask a local shop to order this for me and pick up a classic controller this week—hurrah for the economic stimulus check.
It should ship Tuesday and therefore be in-stores by Wednesday. (...but given the genre and how well its predecessors did, it's unlikely that most GS/EBs will end up getting many copies aside from preorders...)professor ganson wrote:I have the 360 and PC versions and this game is incredible. It's a given that the shmup genre really doesn't get much support from the USA based speciality video game retailer chains unless you make sure that you pay up that minimum of $5.00 USD to guarantee yourself a copy on "day one"...if not, you fucked. Good luck on see if you can score a straggler "loose" copy of USA region Wii SnS-3 a few days later after debut release. Just plain common sense here, folks...honorless wrote:I'm stoked; I loved Shiki 2. This same situation came up when the USA PS2 ver. of Raiden III came out on day one...my local Gamestop only got three copies in and two were on reserve. The last remaing copy was up for grabs. Real slim pickings right there, especially for U.S. released console based shmup titles...

IGN gave it a good review. But they didn't mention whether or not this one has Classic Controller support or not.
I'm glad to see them give it a decent score at least. I hate seeing shooter reviews get a bad review because "they're too short" or whatever the excuse may be.
I'm pretty sure it supports classic and gamecube controllers.dave4shmups wrote:Yeah they did, and they even used the word shmup!Django! wrote:That's pretty much what I'm doin. Supportin it.PepsimanVsJoe wrote:So what's the word on this game?

Gamestop pre-orders for Wii Castle Shikigami 3 now closed!
Here's the latest 411 regarding Asksys' Wii release of Castle Shikigami 3 for the USA:
I went in today, 5/13/2008, at my local Gamestop to inquire and to pay the obiligatory $5.00 reservation fee for the upcoming Wii shmup title of Castle Shkikgami 3. The Gamestop associate said that the computer wasn't taking any more pre-orders and that it registered that it is shipping out today.
Also, I was told that no Gamestop store locations for the entire Western region have recieved their limited allotment of Wii Castle Shikigami 3 games yet. So there, that settles the burning question as to whether it's already out or not...
My local Gamestop said that to call them tomorrow morning around 10:00-11:00am to verify that if they had gotten their shipment in and they'll hold a copy for me. So there's no reservation necessary in this case...so it's first come, first served basis. Snooze and you lose... ^_~
It's gonna be worth the wait... ^_~

Gamestop was not taking preorders on Shiki 3 to begin with. It was not in our preorder system. When I inquired to the higher-ups, they said it was only going to be sent to select stores. As for shipments, when a game releases, it ships on that day. So we get it on the next day. Only big releases (like Halo 3 and GTA IV) are in stores on the release date. So if your Gamestop was one of the stores selected to receive it, they will have it tomorrow.
