Best versions of the Psyvarier games?
I searched and didn't find any of these topics. Thanks in advance.

There aren't a whole lot of "versions" to speak of, really...the first two (Medium Unit and Revision) were released as one package ("Psyvariar Complete") in Japan and Europe, and to the best of my knowledge both were handled well, so which you buy depends mostly on what sort of console you have...there were a pair of "box sets" of "Complete" released in Japan as well (one includes a replay DVD, and the other a soundtrack), though the game is the same (though if you can play PAL games that version tends to be cheaper). Medium Unit and Revision were also released as individual "budget" games in Japan, but they're exactly the same as they are in "Complete."
Psyvariar 2 made it onto the PS2, DC, and XBox, all in Japan only...the former has the most extra stuff in it, including a replay DVD (though also some load times to deal with), and to the best of my knowledge the XB version is similar, but with fewer extras (someone might have to correct that). The DC version is a bare-bones port, but slightly more graphically accurate and has fewer load times (also no "roll" button if you're a purist...though maybe the XB port lacked that as well).
That's the best of my recollection...feel free to correct any errors you see.

Taito G-Cards of Psy-MU & Psy-R for G-Net mobo...
Let's not forget the original arcade versions of Psyvariar Medium Unit (released in Japanese gaming centers back in March of 2000) and Psyvariar Revision (released in September of 2000 for the Japanese gaming centers) both released as Taito G-Card cartridges for use on the Taito G-Net motherboard. They both rock when booted up on a G-Net mobo that's been hooked up to a pair of stereo speakers rated at 100w without breaking a sweat... ^_~
What's cool about the Taito G-Card ver. of Psy-R is that such individual Superplays + high scores are stored directly to the cartridge itself for posterity and can only be viewed on that particular cart only.
I wonder how much ace Japanese shmup master ISO's Taito G-Card of Psy-R would be worth with all his cool Superplays stored on it? Something to ponder about..... ^_~

I used to swear by the first Psyvariar when it got a PAL release with the revision edition. When it came out was around the time I was discovering shmups beyond just having a few and knowing I loved them but not knowing there was a whole scene.
Then I got my first ever respectable 1CC on Revision Unit and thought that was better than Psyvariar 2.
Then I discovered how to play Psy 2 properly and now I love it far more than the editions of the first game.
Never knew about G-Card saving superplays. Does it auto save if you hit a certain score? How do you access them? Through a dip-switch type menu?
