Need help identifying a shmup, please help.

Post by brennz »

Hello Everyone,

I need help with a game I played over 15 years ago.

Its a vertical shooter
The year I played it was 91-93 era
As far as I can remember it had fighter jets, and was set it modern times
In the first level , when you meet the boss, it speeds up and there is cloud cover and the music changes.
The music that is played has voice, and he is singing something about shooting or bringing you down

I hope that helps, I really liked this game back in the day, but I have nooo idea what it is called!!

I appreciate any help

Do you now what it definitely isn't in terms of the most famous jet-fighter based shmups?

1942/43/XX etc. 1941 was around 1990
Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters maybe?

Obvious ones to mention but I guess it's best to start eliminating the ones we all know. Any of those? Strikers 1945 and 1954 II were a bit late for the era you specify.

Vapor Trial--- I just tried it and oh boy I thought it was it, but close. Its very simular. The game I want had a very top gun feeling soundtrack, like the song Danger Zone. The key to finding it, is during the first level boss fight a song plays with voice over singing. This was very cool for the early ninties.

I tried all aerofighters/sonicwings, plus 194X - strikers 1945 and still nothing. THis makes me insane that I have forgotten, so many good memories with this game. I am 100% it exists I just need to find it.

Twin Cobra II / Kyukyoku Tiger II (Takumi / Taito, 1995)? First stage has vocals, at least.

Does Skull Fang have singing? It's got a lot of other speech.

Twin eagle has speech but helicopters. I think it says something like "bring you down"

Does Storm Blade have singing?
