According to Famitsu, The best Hori in the last 10 years will have a DC reprint in 2008 and will be sold exclusively through the store Messe Sanoh on the 17th of January.
Intersting considering the backward and forward rumours considering GD production!

Have you seen the resale value for BD?
Yeah, I've sold a couple in the past couple years. Just seems like XBox Live and PS Network are much more lucrative markets. Seems like an odd choice, but I hardly know the details of the situation.

G-Rev have been rather adamant about not re-releasing games on other platforms. They stated that when they do release something on XBLA, it'll be a completely new product.
So I guess my question is: Why have that policy? It can't be that they care about the market value of the games they've released: they'll be killing that. Besides, that market value doesn't benefit them in any straightforward way.

Yeah, this is something I struggle with. There are many things to love about downloadable games, but hardware failure always casts a shadow.
i thought it was well-known, but the reason why not to release something on someone else's network as a download is because you're held to ransom over how much % of each transaction goes to you, the person who created it. i think with xbox live, microsoft take 80% - correct me if i'm wrong. that's why hardly ever is it worth putting new games on these services, and they end up full of really old IPs that licence holders don't give a shit about any more.

Interesting. I don't know anything about xbla et al. Does that mean that when you purchase say SMB, it's not a lifetime subscription, it's just a "until your wii HD breaks" license? That'd be fucking retarded. It should at least be licensed until the wii online service no longer exists in any form if so.

If your Wii breaks, they can transfer your stuff to a new one.
This isn't the first time they've done this. They had reprints of Saturn Princess Crown for 4800 yen AGES after it was out of print. Even came w/a phone card.
Note that this is not the limited edition. It's not a bad deal though.

Is this an official reprint? Also, does anyone know if this will be on a SEGA GD or a regular CD like Last Hope? Sorry if these questions seem silly, but my Japanese is limited (to none).

I agree with this strongly, it might be me being a bit old but I always want a physical version of any game I really like. I still play stuff that is pretty old. Once that console's online service is gone, so are those games if your hard drive srews up or needs a reformat ect.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
I regretfully sold my copy on eBay a few years back (I refuse to say how much I sold it for ). Wish I hadn't. And although playing Border Down on back-up has been keeping me satisfied over the past few years, I will definitely pick up this re-release just so I can have the actual game in my library. I just hope it will be sold at a reasonable price.

I second this. I might end up not liking it, but I sure want to give it a try. (Damn you, DEL, for making me interested in this.)

Were those reprints identical or was there a way to distinguish them?
If the BD reprints are identical to the original regular edition, then I suppose now would be the time to sell any extra copies one might have...

Thats good thinking, if a bit risky. The price of the original & LE will crash if there is a re-release. I'm thinking that the current prices are only high due to scarcity

Of course its by far my favourite game of recent years. In fact BD ended a ten year malaise in my shooting career. This said, you've got to appreciate that its a memoriser Mister Schatten. Its best to watch replays before you begin.

Identical. And they popped up on YJ w/ the phone cards every now and again.

An odd question. The DC is capable of playing CDs (not just GDs or whatever they were called.) I doubt Border Down (BD!) is so large that it wouldn't fit on a CD. Reissuing the game in this format would cost little-to-nothing as CDs themselves cost virtually nothing to manufacture these days. Cashing on in even 500 rabid fans would be well worth it if they can make the initial cost of the run very small.

Eugenics: you know it's right!

Some newer models can't play CDs. For sure this will be a normal GD ROM reprint. Or maybe they digged out some old stock G.REV found during a Christmas party in some corner.
According to the article they had to remake everything, even the manuals. The whole thing is really curious. How are they pressing GD-Roms if they aren't being manufactured anymore? I don't know how pressing GD-Roms works, but maybe Messe Sannoh managed to get a couple of hundred leftover blank GD-Roms from Sega. After all, the article says it's only a "limited resale". It doesn't sound like they have large quantities to flood the market with.

You know, it's entirely possible that G-Rev had a GD-ROM burner in house... combine that with some left over blank GD-ROM stock they probably had laying around and you've got a small reprint.
One has to wonder if MileStone or Triangle Service squirreled away some extra GD-ROMs as well.
