I agree, that is a nice cover.
Let's hope the gameplay is equally as nice.

Also is there any story to this game? Or it's just shooting?

Looks like its kinda based on Journey to the West, but for some reason Wu Kong is called Michael.

Why the odd name title :?
What, you don't appreciate the power of video games to let you become The Monkey King?

Does anybody have a JPN vs. US cover comparison handy?

UFO Interactive has published a couple of Starfish games in the past in the US, so it makes sense in a way.

As another random side note, Kai Kai World also popped up on Gamefly as being published for the Wii in the US by UFO Interactive as well... I know after Kiki Kai Kai was cancelled for the PS2 a lot of rumors started murmuring that the game had moved to Wii development, so it would be interesting to see if Kai Kai World is actually this "new" Kiki Kai Kai for the Wii.

Gamefly has a tendency of "breaking" stories of games being released here before they are officially announced. They did it with Guilty Gear for the Wii before the Wii port of the game was even mentioned by Arc System Works (let alone Aksys - the US publishers).

They must have a huge spy network of ninjas working behind the scenes to get the information they update their games listings with.
I also noticed on the upcoming games list for PS2 on Gamefaqs, that a Kiki Kai World is also on there. But it has the publisher as Tommo, the same people it says are publishing Monkey King/Shin Chuuka Taisen in the US for Wii.

Maybe Gamefaqs messed up and put Tommo where UFO should be. In which case, there's a possibility for a PS2 version of Kiki Kai Kai 2 still.

Just ran through this. 1CCed normal mode with mei mei my first try.

Nice graphics but little/no animation.

Gameplay is fun in a mediocre early 90's hori sort of way, but way too easy. Your life bar can sustain a good 6-7 hits per life and 5 lives are the default.

Overall, it feels like a mediocre doujin.

Here's hoping Kiki Kai Kai 2 is better : (
Good luck or cry.

I have written a review of this game, but before posting it I am trying to find someone who can make for me a decent header image for it. There are very few artwork images online, and since my photoshopping skills are very poor the best I could come up with was this:

Image

It sucks, I know, and that's why I wouldn't want to post the review before coming up with something better.

So if anyone would like to help, I have uploaded all the artwork I could find here:

http://misc.insomnia.ac/shinchuka.rar (1.4 MB)

The official site is here, but it doesn't really have much of use:

http://www.s-f.co.jp/soft/wii/newchuka/

Image needs to be 750x175... Thanks in advance to whoever gives this a try.

This game is like taking a euroshmup and crashing it into a wall of horribly annoying sfx.

Also why is the stage 1 boss incredibly long and boring in that vid?

I agree, this is quite a weird game. I only got it as the PCE original was fun and for my collection. But gameplay surely isn't very great, plus the Wiimote controls are aweful. Anyway, you can fly full speed though most of the levels without getting too many hits using that feature.

This game should be a budget release, imo.

It is a budget release.

Those gameplay videos look terrible. Like this is sub-Steel Empire. Anyone actually played this. Is it crap?

I got the Japanese one, which isn't really very budget with 5800 Yen. And yes, I'd say it's kinda really crap. ;) Somehow fun for 20 minutes or so, then you should have managed to get through it quickly. ;)
