R Type Final F-C Strategy

Post by DawnPatrol »

I'm having more problems with preventable deaths in this game than any other shmup I've ever played.

Does anybody get sucked into playing offensively?

I find more manic shooters easier. Take Strikers for example. I find it easier to focus on my fighter, rapid fire without aiming, and bomb when cornered. Offense is auto so a defensive strategy will see you through.

With R Type, I decide between firing my force, rapid fire, and charge fire. I have over 29 hrs and I still get smoked playing through F-C. Enemy fire is minimal (on the normal and easier levels) and I find myself flakkin out because I cant balance between smokin an enemy and taking cover.

What is your strategy for F-C in R Type Final?

I've never managed to do F-C on R-Typer mode. In fact, I've only done it on Human with the Ragnarok II, which makes me feel like I'm cheating. 1 life after going through the rest of the game is just brutal.

To answer the question, though... I mostly play F-C defensively. Offensively where it's the best option for staying alive (which is most of the time, I guess, on the higher difficulties), but, uh, otherwise I just focus on protecting myself.

I love this game. I just wish there were a way to play it without the slowdown. And that the first stage weren't so boring.

Hey, it's DP from GameFAQs! What's wrong, my advice wasn't good enough for you? Wanna fight about it?

Exactly how I feel. I wonder if playing on a PS3 would help with the slowdonw, though of course that wouldn't do anything for the too 'oft seen Evergreen.

Someone once said they wished Irem had put in all the old R-Type stages so you get more use out of the ships you spend so much time unlocking. I think that would have been a nice touch, though of course ships like the Leo II and Ragnarok II would utterly rape the old-school Bydo.

Dude. I was just there. I gave due credit.

If Irem had thrown every level in there, it would've made grabbing all the ships less fun-sucking.

Anybody have plans on grabbing R Type Tactics for the PSP?

Maybe, if those idiots hadn't put it on the PSP. I've heard good things about it.
Of course, that's just an opinion.
