rq:raiden fighters 2 medalling

lolz i am getting to stage 5 but my score is less than 10 milly which judging by score threads is stupid low for the stage i am getting to...
i need to work out this medalling system .. i can get the gold medals after the green ones by stage 3 .. how exactly do i make them explode so i can get the higher value medals .seems quite hard to get 9 on screen at same time to me ??
