Imports on my PS2 - Swap Magic?

I have an american PS2. I'm hoping to get it playing imports like DOJ and Galuda in the near future, and the best solution looks to be Swap Magic (I'm not very handy with hardware so I won't want to do any soldering). First off, I have an old fatty PS2, so according to the Swap Magic website I'd need either the flip lid or the slide tool. I've heard that the slide tool can be damaging to the console, so I'm not sure I want to try that, but the flip lid looks to be difficult to find as well as to install. If anyone could give me some suggestions about this I'd appreciate it. I'm really not great at hardware type stuff, which is why I'd prefer the slide tool, except that it seems potentially damaging... so I'm in a bit of a quandary. If I'd be going with the flip lid, I wonder if anyone knows a good place to find one. Ebay hasn't been too reliable about those.

If you can use a screwdriver you can probably install the flip top lid. I don't believe the slide tool is going to cause any serious damage to the ps2 unless you do anything really stupid, but it's a huge pain to use, just because it's so much slower than pulling the disc straight out. estarland.com carry the flip tops lids, and I've never had any trouble with them. (the site, not the cover)

Slide tool may eventually wear down the emergency eject lever. Fliptop can be found in numerous locations if you search for it by this proper name. There are instructions all over the net for the specific PS2 model that you have. It may be difficult to install if you're under the age of 10 or suffering from dyspraxia; for everyone else, it'll be a straightforward ~10-minute process.
