TATE Question

Post by durias »

When I tate my TV to play Raiden DX on my PS2 (both NTSC-J), the colors get all messed up. Admittedly, my TV is low-end. Other than "get a new TV" any advice? Thanks in advance!

After you flip the TV, but before you turn it on-- let it sit for like twenty minutes. Unless there's a button to degauss, this seems to be the best way to do it.

I asked a similar question just a little while back and the suggestions I got worked great.

yep ... it's pretty normal. it has to do with the way CRT's interact with the earth's magnetic field. my 21" monitor gets all messed up when i flip it, but i hit degauss and it's fine :)

^^_ haha, very nice! I love the brick pattern.

By the way, anyone have any advice for supporting a 25" in tate, other than "a bunch of phonebooks"?

My 20" leans on the wall behind it.

If weird colors don't disappear after hour on so, take a strong magnet (or speaker) and wave it few times in front of screen. Sounds like complete bullshit, but it actually works.

Loads of advice here, first from a experienced novice, and then backed up by some very technical pro speak:

To save you time on that link above - go straight to 'How to'. That's the meat and potatoes of the site.

That's a very bad idea, especially since TV screens don't have a degauss feature. It can damage your TV, possibly beyond repair.

Or you could do as Koda did and turn it off before or after tateing for a few minutes. Works for anything I've done.

Yes, that's the only "right" way to do it.
