I've been using a Sony PVM for a while now and it's been just fine. Today however while playing Futari on it, the picture just up and disappeared. Now when I power it on, the STANDBY word shows up for a moment, and the TV makes the normal sound it does when you turn it on, but the control panel lights don't turn on at all, and no picture shows up. I can still even hit the degauss button too.
Doesn't seem like it would be the picture tube that died since it was working just fine and then suddenly the whole thing died. Any idea what it might be or what I could do to get it working again? I wouldn't be against taking it apart if I had to, but I don't know the slightest about fixing TVs.

Then don't open it up. If you touch the wrong thing inside of a TV, even if it's turned off and unplugged, you can get a shock big enough to kill you.Gwyrgyn Blood wrote:I wouldn't be against taking it apart if I had to, but I don't know the slightest about fixing TVs.

Hey, I just got one of these and I'm having trouble with the control panel on the front. I want to test the monitor via S-video but I haven't been able to. When I turn it on, the Line A and Computer input things both are lit up on the front panel. I try to push the other buttons to switch over to a different input and nothing happens. Is this thing completely busted? I'm hoping the RGB input will work but testing that won't be possible til I get a cable.

There should be another button on it you can push, 'Control' or something. The basic idea is you need to 'turn on' control to the other buttons first before you can use them.
On the back of the TV, there are also switches which change what can control the TV, the Remote or the front panel. You can flip those if they are wrong.

Yeah, the manual control panel in the front seems to be jammed. I'm not sure. It shouldn't matter much as long as I can get the RGB input to work. I'll have to wait for a cable on that. I was hoping to be able to use S-video on this. Maybe the controls will free up once I get the supergun's RGB input going.
