Maybe it's due to this? In a nutshell, it causes different colours to appear at slightly different focal depths.
Theoretically, it should be harder and more fatiguing on your eyes to have to rapidly switch between focusing on different colours.
Great for distinguishing between different waves of bullets though. And it makes Psyvariar 2 so pretty.
Where do you look when playing?

I look at the area covering roughly about a half of the screen above my craft during easy parts, and at area just around my craft during hard parts. The more precision I need, the more I reduce my field of vision. Normally, to become better at a game you need to be able to reduce it much less or not at all.

iatneH do you mind if I upload this to Youtube? Because of driver problems I can't watch it on my Windows Media player but I will be able to watch if I upload the file to youtube (yes I know it's quite dumb), I'll give you full credit and I'll link to the video in this thread so others can watch.
I did great so much water and milk that I threw up when I was little.

Now that I think about it, I'm usually scanning in a sort of parabola above my craft for manic verts (to look for openings in bullet patterns), while I look almost directly at the ship in classic horis (to avoid slamming into the terrain).escadrille wrote:This has got to vary somewhat from game to game. Manic shmups vs older games with small numbers of snipers. Or oddball games like Guwange where you're moving two things at once.

Sorry, somehow I didn't notice that this thread returned from the land of the dead two days ago...Shocky wrote:iatneH, could you upload the video to YouTube? Or does the quality suffer too much? .
I don't have this video and the Rapidshare link died so I'm downloading it back from incognoscente's Megaupload mirror.
I'll throw it up on Youtube but you will throw up your dinner. The framerate is really, really poor, you will get a headache from watching.
edit: Here it is.
