And though slightly off-topic I also heard they were also developing a run and gunner for the DS, possibly something new or a new Gunstar Heroes. I think it was the same interview, somewhere at the end?jp wrote:Treasure is working on a new shooter for the Xbox360, though they briefly put it on hold so they could put Ikaruga on XBLA, I assume so more people would buy the retail game when it comes out.

I don't know about a new run and gunner, but a new Bangaioh is coming to the DS.LGB wrote:And though slightly off-topic I also heard they were also developing a run and gunner for the DS, possibly something new or a new Gunstar Heroes. This may have been it, this interview WAS a while ago. Of course they may STILL have some surprise for us, we'll just have to wait?BrianC wrote:I don't know about a new run and gunner, but a new Bangaioh is coming to the DS.LGB wrote:And though slightly off-topic I also heard they were also developing a run and gunner for the DS, possibly something new or a new Gunstar Heroes. I know they're making two 360 games (aside from the Ikaruga port).LGB wrote:This may have been it, this interview WAS a while ago. The shooting game team is working on one (though, as I said previously, they're working on Ikaruga for XBLA right now) and their action game team are working on one.
Only thing I know they're making ofr the DS is Bangai-Oh Spirits.

Unless you have an XBox 360....you're pretty much out of luck, consolewise. ..not counting handheld shmup releases.
List of future XBLA releases in 2008:
Rez
Every Extend Extra Extreme
Ikaruga
Exit
Omega Drive
Trigger Heart Exelica

E4 is already out, has been for awhile, and unfortunately was pretty disappointing.
The stupid "infinity shield" killed it. It's possible to play the entire game while completely invincible. No dodging required! Blah.
And Exit is also out, and not actually a shmup at all..... Musta been a mistake?

Just out of curiosity, I googled the meaning of "console" in reference to video games and it appears to support your definition of console as well as mine.moozooh wrote:What else can it be, other than a console?
I've always thought there was difference between a hand-held system and a home console unit.
The term "console" when used in context with video games always suggested to me to be a stationary unit that you basically plug in the wall and stays put, much like a television or an appliance device. The very fact that the PSP, DS, Nomad, etc. were hand-held, on-the-go devices put them in a different category. I used to subscribe to video game magazines that also categorized hand-helds and consoles differently.
My bad.
