Should i get back into Final Fantasy?

Final Fantasy MCMXIIIV Fabulous Akimoochu Pinto Crystal wrote:Old wise strong guy - "Oh shi - we must save ze crystal. Without ze crystal the world will fall into chaos! Ze planet will destroy itself from ze inside out!"

Blonde girl-man - "But i am angsty and in love. Also, i can't remember stuff. I r sky pirate."

"Smart" girl with large breasts - "I have large breasts."

Bad guy - "She has large breasts and i'm crying inside now DIE!!!"

Other party members - "We are here to be action figures!"
How many of these things have you actually played? Out of 28 separate games i've only played through 5 of them. My last Final Fantasy experience was VII, Tactics and a couple years ago the remake of part 1 that was on GBA.

I was reading in Wiki that they plan on producing 6 more games based on VII over the next 10 years and even more based on XIII for an even longer period of time, not to mention the regular numerous spinoffs and sequels.

That's amazing to me. To catch up i'd have to put alot of playtime into something where nothing has to make sense.

Still, for some reason i actually am a bit interested in XIII. I thought about getting all the old ones just to catch up. Not so sure i want to spend that much time and effort on something that in the end might just feel kind of shallow and manufactured though. My opinion declined the moment i saw The Spirits Within and... well, Tidus. God he's lame.

I stopped caring about Final Fantasy after VIII. I think Square has made them too graphics and story-focused (part of games I generally couldn't care less about) for their own good. Every game feels like a spectacle.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Personally, I'd stick with more conventional forms of masochism. Like high heels on testicle, or hanging from meat hooks.

FF4: not bad
FF5: Not bad
FF6: Very Good
FF7: very Good but way overated
FF7: Dirge of cerberus, very bad devil may cry rip off.
FF7: crisis core, action/rpg, supposedly pretty good
FF8: card mini game saved it, Good if the plot doesn't annoy you
FF9: Not played

FF10: Protagonist destroyed the game, but Its actually worth playing, plot and presentation not to mention battle system are enjoyable, some great bosses. Had tidus been removed and replaced by Jecht I'd have liked it

FFX-2: AVOID stupid atempt at cgi porno, very bad.
FF11: MMORPG not played
FF12: Depends, Good plot and presentation but very boring battles, lots of walking, espers are useless, weapons are dull, No random battles though.

Dragon Quest 8 better than any off them imho.

I played those

FF1: Quite good
FF2: Much better
FF7: Awesome though remake of it would be better
FF7 DoC: Man That game is average and sometimes is annoying... unless you know what weapons to upgrade first... the best part of it is final chapter and final boss period others suck
FF10: Poor
FF12: Awesome though it gets kinda boring of tactical gameplay over and over, i want some fast action!

I stopped liking the series when the characters became full sized and realistic.

lol it practically plays itself, okay you can control them individually but theres no point. I have to admit there is a sense of satisfaction from having a nice set of gambits take care of a boss for and hour solid without any input from the player.

I got the ps-x redux's i missed before along with VIII and IX. If the aforementioned two please me then i'll probably skip 10 and 11 and pick up 12 and maybe the remake of III that's on DS.

So far i'm actually enjoying part II and V as i'd never really gotten a chance to play them before. I feel like i'd be having more fun playing the originals over an emulator but at least this way i get to see the added cinema's.

The thing about the FF series is that most of them, when you get right down to it, are completely unrelated, so there's really not much "catching up" to do anyways. If you only like one game out of the entire series, just play that, and forget all the others, since they're not likely to enhance your experience with the one much, if at all.

That said, I think I must be the only person on here who actually enjoyed FFX. :P

I know most of them are unrelated but it's still a series and i feel the need to follow the progression faithfully before i jump into the new one. I just thought it was kind of lame that the U.S. I, II, III and VII and Tactics are the last of them i actually played.

Not sure why i skipped over VIII when it was released because i remember i really enjoyed VII.

FF9 is UNDERrated in any way, and why do people hate part 8 so much? :(
its my most favourite no doubt.

At all the final fantasy series is the best of all, go back to it, i want so, too !

Either way, if you encounter one that you don't like you don't need to feel guilty about skipping it (or just plain giving FF a break and playing something else - personally, I played FF9 back when it first came out, any only just now have I bothered to pick up FFX) - I haven't played the entire series through, let alone in any sort of order, but even at that it's pretty obvious that some people will adore certain parts of the series, for various reasons, and others will despise them and love others. I don't think that even the most hardcore FF fanboy can honestly say that he loves each and every game - they're simply too different to all appeal to anyone.

Agree except i switch 3 and 6, and i haven't played 12. Strange. People usually fellate the newer ones, and by newer i mean from 7 on, and i feel like the odd man out saying how bad they are.

Thanks for the clarification. And yes, most people give blowjobs to the new Final Fantasy games. And i may have to correct myself. I know the numbering system for this series is different in the USA and Japan. 6 may actually be my favorite. Whichever one has the mech armors is my favorite.
