Who is going to take the first plunge on Soldner X?
Update: The PC version of the game is available to preorder via Play Asia already as you know, but now there are a few music previews on that page. Scroll down to the OST tracklist and have a listen, I hope you enjoy them and that it gives you an idea of the music feel, I would tend to think it's my most involving work yet. I think if you enjoyed LH, you should enjoy this as well. Well, here's hoping at least.

Also, check out the specs (sceen modes etc.)
All the best,

No demo, no buy. That is my personal rule number 1 for doujin games and games by unknown developers (which Last Hope forced me to instate). The second rule is: Don't fall for "Limited Editions" of doujin games. Everybody and their dog is making LEs nowadays.
PS.
So they want us to preorder and don't even show gameplay videos? LOL-erific.

If there was one thing that was NOT wrong with broken thunder in the slighthest... it was the music department. And with all respect to soniq-man and noting that I like the samples so far, I doubt this will top BT in that department. The Coop wrote: The game looks considerably better graphically, and the music sounds nice too. That already puts this beast a couple steps ahead

I have a different rule. I only buy games for which no information is available anywhere. The less the better in this case -- games with trailers (let alone reviews) are a no-no, and games which I can actually click on a link, download and play I wouldn't even dream of spending money on.
And the search for the obscure continues!

Glad you like them, I use my trusty project studio set up, that has cost me some 10 years of collecting hardware and software.koda wrote: Soniq: Excellent tunes there. What do you do your composition in?

Blame my father, whose biggest influence on my life was clearly buying me that C64 when I was 14.

I knew I sensed some demoscene influence in this music. Do you have any pure SID tracks? I'd be quite interested in listening.soniq-man wrote:Glad you like them, I use my trusty project studio set up, that has cost me some 10 years of collecting hardware and software.koda wrote: Soniq: Excellent tunes there. What do you do your composition in?Sequencing is done on a Mac and Cubase, most sounds are true hardware synths, but I also allocate some tracks to software and sample players. As for the compositions themselves, it's no secret that I was raised on Hülsbeck, demo scene composers -- and ironically shoot-'em-up-music-steroids.

No SIDs I'm afraid, but you can find a few Amiga modules over at Amiga Music Preservation

They have dug up some mods from somewhere, heck I don't even have them any more (I do have some DAT tapes with these recordings though). One or two I'm actually even happy with today, in particular Club Atmo and Mellow World, quite jazzy stuff for me. Fact fans: the Deliverance mod melody ended up some 15 years later in the second part of the 1st level in Last Hope (only th extnded version though, you can only hear it in the OST).
Ah, those were the days.

Haha wow.. you mentioned Tip and Mantronix in an interview there which totally made my day. Crystal Symphonies 2 was awesome, and I have much love for Yummy Gap.soniq-man wrote: http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?detai ... &view=9712
Weird. This interview is about 5-6 years old. I think, not sure. I remember vaguely being asked to asnwer these questions. Funny to see that now.ArcticXC wrote: Haha wow.. you mentioned Tip and Mantronix in an interview there which totally made my day. Yes, Yummy Gap was great, I loved the electronic/pop influences in their tracks. Lizardking was another favourite. Excellent themes, less effect stuff.
Best,
