Shmup Company Information...

Post by Harlequin »

Hi

I havent been posting for awhile and just browsing the forums
off and on the past year or so, just getting back into Shmups
and after searching online for Shmup information and also reading
many threads here i was wondering if anyone had a definitive
list of a timeline for various good shmup companies what happened to
them and which are best now with those employees from past companies?

CAVE, PSIKYO, RAIZING, Seibu Kaihatsu, Milestone, Triangle Service,
G.REV, Alfa System, Skonec, Takumi.

These are the companies i have games lists from although not all are stil around.
Im sure there are some i have missed.

Stuff like whats happened to the employees from PSIKYO, RAIZING and Seibu Kaihatsu?
Have they gone on to work on other SHmups at other companies?

Im pretty sure i read somewhere Cave and PSIKYO both got formed from
an older company when it went under?

Thanks for any help and information, Cheers!

psikyo are dead
raizing are dead (altho their spirit still lives in yagawa who now works for cave)
seibu are dead
triangle service might as well be dead (keep releaseing terrible games)
g.rev are alive and kicking (new release coming up)
Cave are doing buisness like never before!

alfa system, takumi and the others are either dead or extremely dormant.

dont forget Moss who have an upcoming release (or already released?) in Raiden 4

Takumi seems to be doing a lot of co-developing with Hudson these days. Some folks from Takumi helped develop Fishing Master for the Wii, and the upcoming(?) Elemental Monster for the DS.

This Edge article gives some nice insight into G.Rev, Milestone, and Triangle Service:

Of course, that's just an opinion.
