Master of Weapon

Completely random hidden bonus on the first stage (random because one of the enemy aircraft have to be flying above your reach) and absolutely horrible level design and makes you wonder if Taito's Z-team worked on this.

Thunder Dragon

The optical illusion bullet patterns are more pronounced in Thunder Dragon so I'll go with that.

TD1 is less than stellar, but MoW is almost nonsensical with its design choices (among other things). I also have bad memories of rather questionable hit detection, and weapons that aren't as useful as you'd think they'd be. As such, I'm voting Master of Weapon as the worse game.

I'm the only one that actually likes master of weapon? Seriously the stage 2 highway is totally awesome, and then that 3d effect where you fly up the edge of that cliff looks insane. The bizzare theme/setting adds to the awesome.
