replacement monitor for Astro City

Post by MattR »

Hi,

Has anyone replaced the 29" Nanao in their Astro City cabinet with a newer monitor? I am worried that a new monitor will not fit.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

If I lived in Australia I would speak to Zaks, I think they repair and supply parts for Nanao monitors.

Why are you replacing the monitor? Does it have some burn-in?

If the tube is still in decent shape you can swap the chassis and get 15-31khz capability for pretty cheap.

The Wei-Ya 3129-A is the one you want. I think Zaks can source them.

If the tube quality is not good, you should be able to swap in most of the monitors based on the 3129. Be careful, some of them are the 'flat screen'
types and may not fit. I think all of the properly sized non-flat ones should
just drop in with not much hassle.

No burn, but after an hour or so the image blurs. I had it serviced by Jomac a year ago but its gone down hill since then.

I will call Zax today and see what they offer.

Cheers,
Matt
