~~how to play~~

you sign up during this weekend and the first week of voting+playing (MY GRACE PERIOD IS GENEROUS) and you vote for games in the monday-thursday period and the playing days are the friday-sunday period. if you happen to have free time only in the monday-thursday period i invite you to eat my shit because there is no way i am going to pay attention to you

i reserve the right to not accept signup declarations.

~signing up~

to sign up, post this sentence in this thread:

"I, [name], pledge not to commit suicide as a result of playing any of these games in this severely traumatizing game tournament"

without the quotation marks, and [name] is your forum name. if [name] does not match your forum name i will not accept your application.

~~rules~~

one game a week will be issued, 5 regular weeks inwhich you will vote for one of 2 or 3 games each of these weeks, plus one bonus round. don't miss the bonus round. you want the bonus round.

~score submission~

please submit scores for appropriate games in the appropriate thread in the following format if possible:

name - character selection position (player side) - secondary unit count - stage (or stage route) - score

for games without ship selection or secondary unit count, they are to be posted in this format:

in the absence of a secondary unit counter:

name - character selection position (player side) - stage - score

in the absence of a character selection:

name - secondary unit count - stage - score

in the absence of both a secondary unit counter and character selection:

name - stage - score

it's that easy!

~scoring~

the top position becomes worth increasingly more as more players participate, at a rate of 5 per participant count after 8.

each position lower than 1st place gets 10 less tournament points per place after the 1st.

the minimum chart positions is 8 and the minimum top player tournament point gain is 50.

example (8 players):

1st: 50
2nd: 40
3rd: 30
4th: 20
5th: 10
6th-8th: no points

example (15 players):

1st: 85
2nd: 75
3rd: 65
4th: 55
5th: 45
6th: 35
7th: 25
8th: 15
9th: 5
10th-15th: no points

interesting to note is that anyone who does not score any tournament points and does not meet the qualifying parameters of the game being played for the week(end) may not vote for the next week if they have voted for the game that is being played for that particular week(end). so basically if you voted for the game that won you have to actually prove that you're worth a shit in the game.

if you provide a (video) replay in your score post and you have scored at least 25 tournament points in your score you will be awarded 7 extra tournament points and will recieve 0.001% less falsificare accusations from shoe-sama. in the bonus round you get more of a bonus for providing a replay. you want the bonus round.

also, there are no teams.

~voting~

the voting thread for each game will be opened at an indeterminate time on monday and will be closed at an indeterminate time on thursday.

to vote you will post your vote in the appropriate voting thread.

if i witness you editing your post (if your post is the last in the thread) your vote is disqualified.
if you have any edit marker in your vote post your vote is disqualified.
i will not have an exit poll because it is never an accurate representation of the current votes in the thread.
i will also not accept private votes because my inbox is sacrosanct.

~qualifying parameters~

if i am feeling particularly nasty i will also pose a requirement that the players do a specific task and take a screenshot of accomplishing that particular task. this of course is purely optional if you score at least any tournament points during the playing week in your score post and basically is a meter of actual expertise for people who actually voted for the winning game but aren't competent enough in it to actually score in it.

the theme weeks will be kept a mystery, to prevent planning. also don't vote for master of weapon, shoe-sama was practicing it

i really did just make this post today. the only thing that was kept in planning was the scoring mechanics and qualification parameters.

No guarantees as to playtime, but what the hell, if I can't play it's only my own score that suffers, right? That and anything with an anti-suicide pledge attached probably has some karmic net gain.
