NAOMI region lock

Post by yojo! »

Does the Naomi system have any country lock ?. I 'm planning on buying one (Japanese version). If there is a country lock, then is it just a matter of burning a seperate US bios a swapping the eprom to play US games ?

Does the GD-ROM and/or the DIMM board are region-specific as well ?

I believe that SOME games are region specific, and most games aren't- gd rom or otherwise.
Check http://www.sega-naomi.com/

I think there's a list there.
I think it's just a matter of swapping the bios chip.

Yes it's region locked, but the member starke on this board makes
a dual boot BIOS for NAOMI.

The JP BIOS can play all NAOMI games (albeit with JP text, and it's the only version of the BIOS that can do so). GD-ROM drives are region-free and so is the DIMM (although you need a newer revision of the Net version of the DIMM to play VF4FT).
