PSP S&L custom firmware and stuff?

Post by Icarus »

After ages of procrastinating over it, I finally acquired a PSP (an S&L).
Mmmm... Castlevania...

Now, some questions:

1) How to check the current firmware? In the System Info screen it says that the software is 3.60, but when looking through the menus with Castlevania loaded there's an upgrader to 3.52. Huh?

2) Can anyone in the know tell me if there's a way of getting custom firmware onto the new PSP without doing anything destructive to the unit (such as bending pins on the battery, etc)? Had a look around Google, most current methods seem to require unusual tricks.

And if I have to do something weird to my PSP, what's the easiest method to use?

3.52 would be the minimum firmware that Castlevania will run on. If you were running a FW older than that, it would automatically update.

Good luck with custom FW on a new PSP. I've been out of the game for a bit, but I don't think they've come up with an "easy" way to do it yet. I could be wrong, however...
