Not sure where you're getting that from, only two have been released this year and no others are planned. They've been releasing two new ones a year since Yagawa joined and put out Ibara in 2005.

2005: Ibara, Espgaluda II
2006: Pink Sweets, Mushi Futari, Ibara Black Label (does not really count as a full release)
2007: Muchi Muchi Pork, Death Smiles

Yagawa's games are released in April/May, Ikeda's games come out in Oct/Nov. Now that Ikeda is head of programming, he seems to be taking a more supervisory role and may be the main programmer less often. For example, Death Smiles had a different main programmer.

yeah, i probably meant over the last few years their output has been pretty hectic, i mean, before the games you mentioned, their was only donpachi, dodonpachi, guwange, progear and that disco one (i think), so their output used to be less, right?

You're missing Esprade, DDP:DOJ, Ketsui, Espgaluda, and Mushihime-sama. Their output has been 1-2 new shmups per year since they started.

doh, oh yeah i forgot those games

im not the biggest cave fan... i prefer dodonpachi to any of their new stuff, and i wondered if back then they were producing less..

edit : mind you, i havnt played much of their new stuff other than their ps2 ports and a quick game on ketsui.

Probably about 9 or 10 months back in the PGM days... perhaps a full year between any of DDP, Guwange, or ESPRade. Someone that's not lazy or generally knowledgeable on this stuff (incognecente or oxtsu) can probably answer w/ more precision.

For DC906270,

You're referring to Cave's Dangun Feveron/Fever S.O.S. PCB, correct?

Dig the 1970's soundtrack of it?

Piecing stuff together from their wikipedia pages:

1995 Nov - DonPachi
1997 ___ - DoDonPachi
1998 ___ - ESP Ra.De.
1998 ___ - Dangun Feveron
1999 ___ - Guwange
2001 Jan - Progear
2001 May - DoDonPachi II
2002 ___ - DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou
2002 ___ - Ketsui - Kizuna Jigoku Tachi
2003 ___ - Espgaluda
2004 ___ - Mushihime-sama
2005 Jul - Ibara
2005 ___ - Espgaluda II
2006 Q2 - Pink Sweets - Ibara Sorekara
2006 Oct - Mushihime-sama Futari
2007 ___ - Muchi-Muchi Pork
2007 ___ - Death Smiles

Impossible to answer your question without more specific release dates. The most likely largest gap is DonPachi -> DoDonPachi or Guwange -> Progear, but it could be anything really.

A very fine resource. I been curious about how their games evolve from Donpachi to current games.

Yeah, they do put out a puzzle game about once every decade. This thread is just about their shmup output afaik.

DDP is one of my all time favorite games period! i dont think any of their other games can compare. DOJ is my 2nd favorite cave game.

I saw DDP 2 in that list...now did Cave actually develop for that PGM title?
