hmm, I don´t have a Neo geo CD... but I would like that Superplay DVD.
I just need to see Plasmo doing what he did getting his amazing score on this...
but 50 Euro that alone? I don´t think so...
maybe someone only interested in the game wants to sell the DVD to me...?

what about dc owners!
Hey we got a bargain and an enhanced version compared to the original AES version anyway.
Paying something like $30 doesn´t give you the same priviliges as when you´ve paid over $500 (or was it over $600?)...
Im really happy to have this "superplay" on the DVD.its sad that there are no other good replays around so i hope you guys can enjoy this one.
highlights:
-no miss, of course
-stage 2 boss scoring trick (got the boss multiplied by 4 i think) ->many thanks to The Coop for finding out and sharing (!!) the trick with others
-stage 4 boss speedkill
-stage 5 boss without bug (flying around him can be really tricky)
-final score is over 600,000
i did a few mistakes in stage 2 and missed some enemies here and there so i guess the theoretical maximum after the first loop would be around 640,000. i know that its possible to get a higher multiplier on the stage 2 boss and maybe even a multiplier on the stage 3 or 4 boss. apologies for not trying harder...
I guess nothing can really be down about an update to the dc version. I feel kind of like a guinea pig though. Oh well, best of luck to ngdev. Maybe I'll check out an mvs release if the price is right.
aw fuck... I just ordered the neogeo cd version anyway... and I shouldn´t even be spending money anyway. I´ll just tell myself over and over that it was good for collectional purposes.
Then again neogeo cd systems can´t be that hard to find now can they...
Or is it one of those "cd drive often failing after several years" systems?

So, anyone else got the Neo Geo CD version yet? I think the last round of changes have been quite beneficial - it's still a really tough game, but it doesn't feel unfairly so anymore. I'm actually quite enjoying it now. Plasmo, I watched your superplay on the DVD - very impressive - I could never manage that.
EDIT: After spending more time on the Neo Geo CD version, I really am impressed with just how much better it plays. For a start, the bright pink bullets make a huge difference to all the modes (they're visible!) and the new Action Mode makes for quite a well balanced game in my opinion. It clearly took a while for the developers to sort things out, but I really am having fun with it now.
Oh and one bizarre feature - on my CDZ at least, the D button acts as a 'fast-forward', zipping through the game when you hold it down. (!)

Look at it this way, I recently saw a copy of the AES go for $1200 on ebay (at least thats when I stopped following it)...I don't know what the final price was.
This came in the mail today around... 2:30-3:00ish. It was actually a sealed limited edition copy. And I opened it. And played it. So ha.
I didn't 1CC it, I did credit feed, but it was so ridiculous in difficulty I couldn't help it. I just HAD to see what type of shit these guys would pull next. For some reason it was like Portal to me, and each section was a puzzle, and though I would die time and time again, I just had to see the next puzzle. And thankfully, it isn't like Gradius and R-Type where you're absolutely helpless when you die, so at least I could get by with just my ship.
At any rate, I actually like the game. Its stupid hard, and I enjoyed that. It does have its downfalls though. The bullets were incredibly hard to see and the hitbox is still a mystery to me, but I rather enjoyed it. I'll try to 1CC it one day.

At the dismay of many here, I must admit I rather enjoyed it too. The hitbox is indeed a mystery, especially with the magnetic mines with circling red dots starting in stage II..."Creepy Waters". No matter how many times I carefully maneuver around them, I still manage to get destroyed by one or two along the way.

I have the Limited Edition, never played it so far because of all the bad things that where being said about game, but the other day I watched a gameplay video and it looked better than what people make it out to be.
What where the fixes? Also what is this bug present in the DC version?

The only bug I know of is against the level 4 boss, where you can get right up against the thing and shoot it through the shield.
Beyond that I believe they made bullets more visible.

ubersaurus wrote:Oh yeah. Some people say they have trouble differentiating bullets from the debris from blown up enemies, but I haven't had that issue.
It's pretty much all about memorizing your way through the levels like in R-Type, so if that's your bag then it's a sweet game.
K thanks. Did you play both versions by the way? Or just the DC version?

Just the DC. I don't have a neo cd, so

Okay I played the game and managed to reach level 3 in very easy mod, then I am stuck. Lol wth this game is very hard. Beside that I think the game is better then what it is being made out to be.
Also what is the difference between Dreamcast Mode and Arcade Mode?

arcade mode is the original MVS release I believe.
