Help putting dodonpachi ps1 on psp please
I just got DDP on PS1 from GaijinPunch, and i immediately tried to convert it to play on my psp with the latest custom firmware.
I'm pretty well to do when it comes to this, but i cannot get DDP to work at all. it freezes at the white 'please wait' screen after selecting your ship.
I've searched up and down google, and i find that a lot of people have got it to work. but most seem to have the same problem as me. then, theres this youtube video.
I wouldnt even ask for help if i hadnt seen all those people with it working. i ask at those places but the threads are ancient.
i use autopopstation 4. i've yet to have any trouble with any of my games at all. zanac neo, harmful park, TF5, etc etc...
can someone help me out if you can?

I think i know how to get it to work.
using the native, built in PS1 emulator in the PSP will make the game freeze.
the people you see with success in getting the game to run, are using something called 'popsloader'. its also a PS1 emulator, obviously not by sony, but its supposed to have better compatibility than the built in emulator.
I would try this myself, but i just upgraded to firmware 3.71 m33-2 with the 1.5 kernal, and there isnt a compatible version for that yet. should be soon though.

Zanac X Zanac: WOW. plays perfectly and look so good with the PSP's sexy screen
Gaiaseed: Plays fine, but since its redbook audio im guessing, the music is non functioning. there are ways to remedy this, but its too much hassle, and i'm not crazy about the game, i bought it for the collection.
Harmful Park: plays 100% another classic i get to put in my pocket!
Thunderforce 5: perfect
Night Raid: perfect!
Strikers 1945: perfect
Einhander: perfect

I now have the entire shmup library on PS1, but i have only tried those games above. i dont forsee a problem with any of the others. A friend told me Donpachi works fine. and of course bastard DoDonpachi had to be the problem child because its my favorite.

putting shmups on the psp is NOT for high score challenges or 1cc attempts. its for those moments when you just need to play a kick ass shmup.

If that's true, then this problem sounds like the problem I had with Wipeout XL... and I eventually got that to work. 1. Download ZiNgABuRgA's Simple Popstation GUI. I saved it to:
D:\!Backup Data for DS and PSP\PSP Backup\PS1 rips\!PsGUI300beta
2. Download "Popstation CDDA by Tinnus." Go to PsGUI300beta\Data and
replace popstation.exe with the one by Tinnus.
3. Rip the CD with CDRwin by clicking on "Extract Disc/Tracks/Sectors"
(top row, middle icon). First, click on the box with the three dots
next to the "Image Filename" field and create a folder with the name
of your game. For example:
D:\!Backup Data for DS and PSP\PSP Backup\PS1 rips\ridge_racer_revolution
Then save the image file with the same name as the folder inside the
folder you just created, like this:
ridge_racer_revolution
Click the "START" button on the bottom to begin. When finished, you
should have a .bin and .cue file, like this:
ridge_racer_revolution.bin
ridge_racer_revolution.cue
4. Open UltraISO and select Tools > Convert. In "Input Image Filename(s),"
select your .bin file. Make sure the "Use Input Directory" box is checked.
Then, under "Output Format," click "CloneCD (.IMG/.CCD/.SUB)" and click
"Convert" to start. You should now have three more files in the same
folder as the .bin and .cue files, like this:
ridge_racer_revolution.ccd
ridge_racer_revolution.img
ridge_racer_revolution.sub
5. Look for image / eboot packs in the sites listed. These determine how
your game will look in your PSP under the "GAME" menu. Save the images
in the same folder as your CD rips, and for best results, rename them
so that the file names of the images match the standard names, like this:
apoklepz_1_icon0.png --> ICON0.png
apoklepz_1_pic1.png --> PIC1.png
For full examples, check out "Eboot Packs by vegetano1". If not all
the images for your game are available, you can always make your own.
6. Preview your eboot and create it with Simple Popstation. Use "9" for
compression.
After transferring the game to your PSP, drop keys.bin into the folder
with the eboot.

I'm going to look into this redbook audio business, i bet thats what it is, cause it freezes right about when the music should start!
ugh. ok. i tried your creation method. everything went swimmingly. but it froze in the exact same place as before.
I went to the dark alex site and grabbed the popsloader m33 pack...thingy. i went into the recovery screen on my psp, enabled the popsloader plugin. and i guess its working? it says its enabled...i dont know how to tell.
started ddp, and nothing looked different at all really, looks exactly like the built in emulator....i've gotta get this to work. i have to be missing something stupid.

I've figured it out people! after a user at another place confirmed that he had a working file, albeit music ripped....he mentioned that he uses a program called psx2psp. something i had never heard of.
I grabbed it off of maxconsole. after a few hours of fiddling, i figured out that the key is to create an image of your DDP disc in bin/cue format. nothing else will work. select the bin file in the program and your golden.
the program is self explanatory. you will need a "super underground" file named base.pbp and key.bin to plop into the files folder. easily found through google.
i now have a 100% working DDP on psp! how flippin cool is that??
everything plays perfectly. only thing is that each music track is a split second late. and i have tried to redo the process a few time with and without compression and all that, but it didnt make a difference.
i'm elated with the results, i think this is something that should be on everyones PSP!!!

i just tried this with psx2psp (before reading the last comment) and mine locks up on the please wait screen

btw, popsloader is not an unofficial emulator, it is simply a hack that allows you to select which version of pops (the official sony ps1 emulator) to use, since it has been changed/updated on many of the major firmware releases ... some of the older versions apparently have higher or different compatibility.. so if for example, you are running firmware version 3.52 but you want to use the pops from 3.01, then you can use popsloader to enable that.

btw, popsloader is not an unofficial emulator, it is simply a hack that allows you to select which version of pops (the official sony ps1 emulator) to use, since it has been changed/updated on many of the major firmware releases ... some of the older versions apparently have higher or different compatibility.. so if for example, you are running firmware version 3.52 but you want to use the pops from 3.01, then you can use popsloader to enable that.

cwcheat has had remapsp bundled with it for a while, it is supposed to have support for POPS too ...
