V-5 MD/Genesis manual translation

Post by Fighter17 »

I always wanted to know what the Project Leader of the V-5/Grind Stormer MD/Genesis port was talking about. It's looks very interesting, but too bad it's in kanji. :(

So is there anyone out there who can translate this? :D

Here's the scan (warning, it's huge):

I'd give it a try but I'm too busy right now.
"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"
"They should at least make 100K to have a good life"

In summary... He is "ultra" bad at shmups, and yet he worked on porting this Toaplan vert. There was concern that going from the 40-character high display (vertically oriented arcade monitor) to the 28-character high display (horizontally oriented TV) would upset the game's balance. But rather than dwell on the technical hurdles (like the arcade machine's greater number of sprites, the Megadrive's limit of 4 color palettes, etc.) he would rather tell the embarassing story of how, on the return flight from CES, he payed for JAL's executive class just so he could play their Sega Megajet. So, during the flight he got to the 2-4 boss on 1 credit [I think?] and then listened to the BGM in sound test mode. The stewardess became nervous when he got the unit wet [?] and also asked about "closing the lid" or something while handling the "game cassettes." Lastly, if the game is too easy, than try playing it left-handed (or vice versa)

That was nice of him about messing up the MegaJet.

Thanks!

WHAT? That's really funny. :) The thing about the lid, could that mean he brought a bare PCB of the yet unreleased MD port of V-V, on to the plane?

I just read it. First he got the Mega Jet wet (presumably he spilled his Old Parr scotch whiskey over it), which worried the stewardess, so he explained that it would play fine again once it was dry.
Next, the stewardess thought he had opened the game cartridge and asked him to put the case back together, but he hadn't opened it; it was really a bare prototype Mega Drive V-5 pcb which he had brought to play on the Mega Jet.
