I'll agree with you on Twinbee Yahoo! and Omega Fighter Special. But Giga Wing, Viper Phase 1 and Darius Gaiden? Those are good games.viniciusvbf wrote:07 had no good games.Rob wrote:Highly insulting. '06 had more than one good game.

Twinbee Yahho was cool before I had to bounce bells to get score
Viper Phase 1 was cool before I had restart level 1 600 times
Darius Gaiden was cool before I turned on auto-fire and the game became retarded.
Omega Fighter Special was cool before I turned on Special mode and the game became unstable
Giga Wing was cool before I found out I suck at it.
That's it

Honestly, the only game I really hated was Viper Phase 1. It was a stupid, OCD memorization-fest that matched fast bullets with a slow fat-fuck ship. Yes, I know all shmups have memorization, but Viper Phase 1 felt like pure memorization with hardly any execution involved.
Twin Bee Yahho: Bell chaining wasn't that hard. Just don't use autofire, don't collect the options and hit the button five times
. It was easy and fun to play IMO.
Darius Gaiden was nice and easy. You're right Shatterhand, autofire does break the game, but there are still a lot of scoring elements to it (knowing how to break off boss parts, killing groups of enemies, not bombing, etc.) If any game helped the scoring spread, it was probably this one. I saw players who normally didn't score very high in higher spots than usual.
Omega Fighter Special: This game was stupid, easy, and broken. I have no good excuse for liking this game, other than the fact it was funny to run into things to beat the stage.
Giga Wing: This game punishes those who suck (like me
). It's a pretty easy game to clear, but tough to score in, which I liked *shrug*.

Twin Bee Yahoo! and Giga Wing -> Very good.
Darius Gaiden -> Very good, until I discover the catastrophic bugs on the score system. Now is only good.
Viper Phase 1 -> Good, but I couldn't play because my PC's motherboard passed away on this week.
Omega Fighter -> Well, 10X assassin score icons, kamikaze score system, invisible shoots, stage jump with the Start Button...

Actually did manage to beat my previous best by a bit, though it still could have been better if not for a stupid death or two. In any event, easily the most enjoyable week of the tournament.
And still my favorite shmup game ever.
And anything is better than the ARGH that was Twinbee......
Though, I wish I'd have DONE BETTER.
My ATTEMPTS at scoring all week, ended up worse than when I was playing the game just for survival, WITHOUT trying to score. AND I didnt even get to stage 7. With Isha. Arrrrrrrrrrgh.
I dunno why the heck I had such a terrible series of plays.... Im doing better at freaking Death Label right now than I am at this...... argh. Argh. Argh.
And let me say this: SCREW THE DAMN TRAIN AND THE DAMN BOAT. Not gonna try getting medals offa those 2 anymore, just gonna BLOW THE FUNKY HECK OUTTA THEM from now on.......
......argh!

Well done to all teams and players taking part. I see Sweden improved on last year's overall position, and SDA came in out of nowhere to claim third. Some good scores appearing, and tougher competition for the individual places. Well done guys. ^_-
However, なまこチーム!: Team Champions once more. Thanks to my team members for putting in another good shift, and asserting our dominance. Been thoroughly enjoyable competing alongside and against you all. Always a pleasure. ^_-
I enjoyed the games selected this year. Even GW (although I won't be touching this game again, ever). Right now, going to take a break from shmupping for a bit, gets some much needed early nights, and play FF6Adv and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

Damn...even only spending 4 credits and getting sick as fuck on the weekend I still would've ended up in the middle.
Seems like everyone tries to get Team Turbo to compete by peer pressure.Blame Turbo Team and theirs "I suck" tactics.

We didn't come out of nowhere, we came from Speed Demos Archive. Maybe 10 people knew where we came from since I was the only one who linked to the site (in my sig)Icarus wrote:SDA came in out of nowhere
lowemark: Yeah, those results are correct as far as I can tell. I really blew it for Team SDA, though I did have the highest stage 5 score on the list
