Yeah, I can usually keep the chain going throughout 1-3, but more than half the time I always end up breaking that chain right before the cat boss because sometimes I have nothing to drop the spirit on before it arrives or the skull meter isn't high enough to be sustained.

Are you talking before or after the bats arrive? Before the bats you can actually hit Mr. Fluffington himself to build up meter. Then, just spray both waves of bats and most of those things that show up right after them... right before you kill them all though, get your spirit out and just hover over some of their bullets until the boss shows up. It's not that hard once you see how to do it.

I just played some Gradius V just now. Made it to the 5th stage boss for the first time.

I came really close to beating my hiscore of 4,9 million in Soukyugurentai during lunch hour. Will try it again later this evening.

Been playing a lot of Raiden III on my PC.

Do you know what? It's a bloody good game. So refreshing after all the bullet hell games on the market nowadays.

Made it to the boss of level 4 in Souky for the first time. He was so awesome I lost my grip and was annihilated. Didn't make the hiscore.

Played some Thunder Force AC last night, and I'll be trying to top my personal best on Giga Wing later. But right now, it's Ace Combat Zero.

Blast Wind.

Lots... and lots... of Blast Wind.

Found some nifty secrets, pulled off a 1LC after magically acquiring 8 lives, and now the only goal left for me is to break 5 million. My high score was 80,000 short, I bombed the hell out of the final boss (because I had 8 lives and HAD to see a score with a 1LC with that!) and I didn't know about my nice little 120K secret at the time. So its very doable. 8)

When I'm not playing Blast Wind I'm playing Hyper Duel (Saturn Mode). Still haven't 1CC'd that... final boss gets me everytime.

The ports ever. One of the best and one of the worst:

Dodonpachi (PSX)
Giga Wing Generations (PS2)

But both games are a buffet of good times. I came around on GWG a while back, despite the PS2 version's obvious flaws (exacerbated by my old/bad eyes and a small TV, granted). I was glad to see 8 1/2's old thread bumped recently.

Battle Garegga, SS. The fourth boss kicks my butt every time I meet him.

Giga Wing and... Zed blade rofl

Other than that, I'm trying to see just how many difficulties I can beat Goenitz on. Also Ryo is overpowered :/

Zanac X Zanac, mostly on Zanac Neo. The old Zanacs on the disk all look like the NES version.

I just finished playing some Giga Wing. It's been so long. I forgot how intense the game is.

R-Type Leo... it's a pretty game, and has a medium difficulty. Good stuff! I'll be moving on from it soon though.

Finally got Giga Wing Generations working.

Love it. Graphics a bit odd, but still love it. Trying for a 1cc currently. Need to deal with stage 4 a bit better first though.

And DOJ's Death Label, STILL.

So damn close to beating it.

And yet so NOT THERE YET.

Dusted off my copy of Ikaruga after reading the latest DC/GC thread.

Playing on the DC through VGA.

It's a beautiful game. No doubt. I can only get to the third stage on 1 credit becuase I have to chain and the 3rd level boss kills me every time.

I can't treat it like a normal shooter and for that reason alone I'm note sure I like it.
