I'm praying to god that Arc Systems is not developing this.
The same goes for Capcom USA.

Alright Fighter16. "Jap" is an antiquated WWII holdover racist slang term for the Japanese. It is viewed by many Japanese, especially Japanese Americans, much the same as saying "nigger", "spic", or "kike" to a African, Mexican or Jewish American. Respectful/respectable people don't say stuff like that.
I'd have thought that someone who pretends to care so much about his alleged ethnicity couldn't possibly have any difficulty figuring this out.
That said, I agree 110%. The Japanese rule videogame development with an iron hand.

I bet it will be developed by people who have no idea of how to make a fighting game OR by Arc Systems , who probably couldn't do a Street Fighter game properly without adding air dashes and shit.
And I hope I am wrong. Goddamn, they CAN NOT SCREW UP THIS. It's fuckin Street Fighter FOUR . No Turbo, no Hyper, no Ex, no Plus, no Extra, no Super, no Edition, it's fucking FOUR.

I've encountered no problems whatsoever by using terms such as "Japanese" or "JP" when referring to Japanese videogames.RGC wrote:In UK magazines, videogame formats were always listed as UK, US, or JAP.
Is it still OK to walk into an import shop and order a "JAP copy of" something, or is phonetic abbreviation now totally outlawed? People think I'm spitting at them when I try to say "JPN"
And hey, I have no idea what goes on in the UK. All I'm saying is that "Japs" is not a respectful way to refer to Japanese people.

If you're walking into an import store, then wouldn't it be fairly obvious that you are there to order an import? Anyways, it's one thing to think of it as an abbreviation for a product like in your scenario, but referring to actual people as that is considered no-no territory over here. Or whatever. Let the giant thread debate begin, and then get split to another thread, and then ultimately get locked.RGC wrote:In UK magazines, videogame formats were always listed as UK, US, or JAP.

If memory serves, Capcom USA has the rights and I think the models used in the trailer definitely have a 'Western' feel in their facial features. I'm slightly scared.Shatterhand wrote:I bet it will be developed by people who have no idea of how to make a fighting game OR by Arc Systems , who probably couldn't do a Street Fighter game properly without adding air dashes and shit.

JPN is the internationally recognized acronym.
It's good because it's three letters and isn't a racial slur.

-custom soundtracks
-online
-authentic widescreen battlegrounds
-720p & 1080p
-fully customizable, exportable/importable characters/control schemes (to take to friend's house)
That be the list of demands. This concludes my opinion.
I'm going to laugh a ton if this thread gets locked
