Ibara Taito Best version?

You guys think it'd be a bad move to seek out a copy of Ibara on PS2 right now?
Taito always seems to do the "taito best" thing with all their games....I'm betting Ibara will get that treatment as well, what do you think?

Though this was once announced, it apparently has been canceled since then.

Yeah, i thought about that too. its so late in the PS2's life, is there a point to doing a Best version? i would just hate to buy it, and then they release a cheaper version.
Well, i want to play it. so i guess im gonna have to pick it up.

The "taito best" version of Ibara was cancelled long ago due to no one preordering it. It'll never be released. So get the regular PS2 version if you want to play it.

Thats exactly what im looking for. i love shmup punishment, and i've been on a PS1/PS2 shmup kick lately, so it looks like i'll be grabbing it then.

MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AROUND FOR THE BEST PRICE.

Honestly. There's a lot of dicourse that suggests this game goes for over $100 regularly, and clicking around on eBay may seem to confirm that. But search for a bit and you'll find one cheap, usualy from Japan. My copy which I bought about a month ago was about $45 including p&p from Japan.

A glutton for punishment? Then Ibara is the game for you. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but the diffficulty is a bit on the sadistic side. As the poster above mentioned, its a good idea to do a fair amount of shopping. You should be able to find a pristine used copy for around $60 shipped with a little patience. I wouldn't pay more than $60, though.

I have sold at least 3 used copies of this for $60 each in the last few months, and two sealed ones (with strategy guide) for $75. I'm sure I'll run across another one at some point.

I've played it... it's hard. I'll give it that. Play it for score, and it's not THAT much harder. There's a weird thing going on w/ scoring high, getting extends, and suiciding to keep the rank down. I saw a guy play DOJ today and got 500 million on the first loop. He played again, and died in 3 key places (once in stages 2,3, and 4 )and had less than 150 million. That is fucking painful.

Again, if you just play for a clear (zzzzzz) you wouldn't notice this.

using hypers all the time i can 1 life up to stage 3 at full rank. ibara on the other hand, i try not to pick up any poiwer up icons etc, and the stage 2 boss still ruins me with his mini swirl pellets at low rank, Ibara is harder to me

I've only gotten to the 4th stage boss on Ibara, but I've not put too much time into it. Just seems that w/ DOJ (and all Ikeda games really) the difficulty goes up many fold when scoring. W/ Ibara, seems you're going to get fucked either way -- might as well get some extends out of it.
