It may, but the only games that will do this properly are the ones that have been designed well enough so that the dipswitches provide no advantages. The way I see it, Strikers will actually differentiate the lower and top tiers.
An example would be last year's A.P.Batrider - a game where the 3 lives default is visible on the ranking screen, and playing on easy will decrease your score potential.
Another example would be Border Down which is virtually fool proof (as long as you're not into photoshopping pics). You can never have more than 3 lives. One life is generally the highest multiplier (except ST3G). Setting it on easy will get you no score at all

This has gotta be true. I can't score for toffee on the GWs2, since you keep saying how forgiving Giga Wing is regarding medals, just so you know beforehand: it is not. Even if you 1-life clear the game and try to collect medals it is no guarantee of even a decent score. The Giga Wing games are all about extremely minute details that push the multiplier to a level that would give you a good score. The multiplier is really increased by the last few hundred collected medals you probably won't even see.
Despite this, Psikyo games don't suit the way I like to play, so GW it is for another throw-away score
