This may be Takumi's one chance of being picked. *sigh*

A game like Strikers would minimize the differences between the top and lower tier. It's David's chance to beat Goliath - and that is what people are voting for in this tournament.
Though, the nostradamus in me foresee Namakoteam's big chance to take revenge for Turbo team's "cancelling vote strategy" in seibu week. Which will favor Giga Wing... so please put som more WWII votes, okay?

It's simple really.shoe-sama wrote:WAITThe Coop wrote:I'd prefer a rush of Giga voters myself.

Strikers has a very annoying scoring system that quite unforgiving. You HAVE to grab medals when they flash white, otherwise your score will be considerably lower even if you make it all the way through. Add in the fact that there's a second loop, and you've got a long, rather irksome scoring game. Giga's medalling system is far more forgiving thanks to your being able to miss medals and not lose your chain (only a death resets the counter if I recall). You also only go through once as far as I know, so it's not as tedious.
So in the end, Giga seems to be the game that has the most potential for people to improve their game, and the best for enjoyment of the scoring week... to me at least.

A simple reflex-based scoring system that requires little memorization. The Coop wrote:You HAVE to grab medals when they flash white, otherwise your score will be considerably lower even if you make it all the way through.
Even with loop it's not long and only a handful will make any progress in it.Add in the fact that there's a second loop, and you've got a long, rather irksome scoring game.
INSANITYGiga's medalling system is far more forgiving
Restart stage 1, restart stage 1, restart stage 1. Milk boss, milk boss, milk boss. You also only go through once as far as I know, so it's not as tedious.

The way I see it, Strikers will actually differentiate the lower and top tiers.bsidwell wrote:Haven't people been saying that every week? Worked real well, hasn't it?DMC wrote:A game like Strikers would minimize the differences between the top and lower tier.
Unless that's what DMC meant... Although Strikers is probably the more popular game, and given it's basic age advantage, more people have played it anyway. Arhhh, forget I said anything! (that shouldn't be hard, eh?)

It also requires sitting there waiting for the thing to flash again when there's six of them on the screen, hoping that bullet sprays don't cause you to miss the flash. Plus, there aren't that many medals, so it's not like you can make up lost ground. At least Giga gives you huge sprays of medals that allow you try and catch up when you mess up a little.Rob wrote:A simple reflex-based scoring system that requires little memorization. The Coop wrote:You HAVE to grab medals when they flash white, otherwise your score will be considerably lower even if you make it all the way through.
The fact that you have to play through everything twice to get a good score makes the game too long. That's part of what bugged me about OFS.Rob wrote:Even with loop it's not long and only a handful will make any progress in it.The Coop wrote:Add in the fact that there's a second loop, and you've got a long, rather irksome scoring game.
Not at all. Miss a medal, you're still good. Unlike some of the other games we've played, where it was miss a medal, and you're fucked. It's medal system at least gives you break. Strikers' medal system of "grab it when it flashes or else" is far more strict, and less forgiving in terms of score.Rob wrote:INSANITYThe Coop wrote:Giga's medalling system is far more forgiving
What game hasn't been like that? At least Giga won't screw you mid-way through the second loop, after you've already spent the time needed to go through once... like OFS did.Rob wrote:Restart stage 1, restart stage 1, restart stage 1. OK, Pro Tip: grab two medals at once! The Coop wrote: It also requires sitting there waiting for the thing to flash again when there's six of them on the screen, hoping that bullet sprays don't cause you to miss the flash. 2, since you keep saying how forgiving Giga Wing is regarding medals, just so you know beforehand: it is not. Even if you 1-life clear the game and try to collect medals it is no guarantee of even a decent score. The Giga Wing games are all about extremely minute details that push the multiplier to a level that would give you a good score. The multiplier is really increased by the last few hundred collected medals you probably won't even see.
