Gift Week

Post by DEL »

Macaw's STGT 2008 'Gift Week' sounds good

At least Rob will get his Gift Week right now  - Giga Wing - I expect Rob's score to be a digit or 3 ahead of mine.

Will there be a console port?
Yes. For Virtual Boy

so...batsugun didn't exactly pass the tests. I didn't mind the music gone, but it seemed as though some of the audio cues were missing. Then the graphic fuckups on stage 1 and 4 which I felt could interfere. Then as weird as it was 1-crediting to stage 5 on my first try, one of those deaths seemed to be random..no bullets anywhere. Or just another emu invisi-bullet glitch whatever. Anyway, yeah the manic part comes in the 2nd loop with the 15 suicide bullets that are shooting from thin-air long-after the enemy exploded...but...that was a little......dumb.

So then I was runnin' down the Toaplan list and the emulation either didn't have its shit together or the game wasn't manic-worthy.

Then the problem came I was runnin' out of companies. 12 game-tests later I was strugglin' just to get anything on the list.

-Can't do another Cave, Psikyo, etc. because complaint box would fill with "you split the vote"..and didn't want the shortlist to look anywhere near a basterdized Cave week.
-Already said we're tryin' not to use the same dev for 2 different weeks.
-Couldn't leave it at 4 choices.
-We kinda sorta accepted whatever the Ramus Shmup Meet choices were into STGT canon...DDP was on that. (but should make those available again after this year)
-People were wantin' on the DoDonPachi...or..probably just anything with Pachi in it...

...so...GunNail was loopholed in as a poor play of the DonPachi card.

there was like...3 other reasons..but I forgot them...
ah well. Have fun this week. This thing is almost over...then we can get back to essay-fights about religious homophobic cocaine and restart the thread-lock-chain and all the fuddy-duddy...

...did I just say "fuddy-duddy?...yeeesh

That's some fine prepositioning, Macaw *thumbs up*

I wouldn't say that. Might not even play it (yes, I am a poor team captain this year).

Would be THE single most disappointing thing about this years' STGT...

I couldn't decide between miscounting the number of digits in my score or spending more time in the strategy section then playing the game, so I chose the split-second-blinky option.

Well, having played Giga, Battle and even some Strikers this evening, I've decided my vote.

I vote for Giga Wing.

I have to say this, Rob - I never thought that I'd be pulling for Giga Wing and against you at the same time. I could ramble on about how, as far as I'm concerned, Psikyo games aren't really "manic" to begin with, but I digress.

I do agree with Yeats though.

But it was done in weeks 1 & 2... in a far worse way.

You couldn't split the Dangun vote with another Cave game anyway. It is for all intents and purposes, a bastard. It's the only non-Ikeda Cave game that would fulfill the MAME requirements.

I feel horrible about it. Betraying fellow Giga Wing fans, but but Strikers 1945 II!

This may be Takumi's one chance of being picked. *sigh*

Rank is something you're going to have to deal with no matter which game you choose, ED-057
yeah but I don't want to have to actually try and control it. Can't we just ignore rank, let it increase to maximum if it is so inclined, and take it like men? :)

I bet you'd like Eight Forces. The game gets easy at high rank.
