Anyone else frustrated with Lifting? It would be a cool idea, but it seems to me the physics of the rock change each time I play it.....
Sometimes it's like pong, where you need to hit the opposite side of where you want it to go, then other times it just seems to have a mind of it's own and go flying off the screen with a dead center hit.....
Also, a meter on the side like Zaxxon to show how high the rock is would really help. The rock is so small, it's hard to see details of perspective when bouncing it around.

Don't just dodge bullets, dance around them.
I still find the change of views on Border Down to be funny. Not much of a rise to begin with, but now I guarentee it will be on the top 25 list.Diabollokus wrote:Everyone step back.
Take a look at the posts this game has and the number of views.
All this for a game that had a cool reception, what a turn around.
No other dreamcast game bar ikaruga has had this much impact on shmups.com.

Another big thumbs up
I like the simple polygon look (reminds me of Border Down) and old school vibe. All the little secrets are a nice touch as well.
I guess since Triangle Service's next game is that 3-d rail shooter, we won't see a traditional shooter until later this year or next year?

just uploaded the first very basic pages to www.trizeal.co.uk really need some more replays, got Kiken's 20 minute run and also split that into individual stages, can't get my PC's TV Tuner to work with my DC or would have added my video's also.davidholliss wrote:I asked the same about movies few days ago, hoping Kiken will have some soon, putting together a Trizeal fan site, but only have Kiken's movies so far.

I got my copy of trizeal last night. played a bit got to level 5, saw stage one dragons pretty cool.
at first i thought it wasn't that great then as I got better bullets got faster and bosses got tougher thats a nice touch. stage 4 and 3 are dam good stages. 1's not bad and I hate stage 2 feels so empty.
Bosses aren't bad I must say like the multiple parts you can blow off and stage 4 asteroids are real bastids. I like the ship. really is a nice design think I need a DC arcade stick to play shmups, particulary this one.
graphically I like it especially in tate some nice clouds and landscapes. got 45 mins into it liking it and not sure If I'd recommend it just yet have to see the rest of the game but so far it looks promising really takes off half way through stage 2.
Anyone going to write a review for this, I'd be tempted myself.

Well, Senko No Ronde is pretty much a "yes" for a DC port (although, it's not really a shmup, per se). Who knows about Under Defeat... but considering that G-Rev still haven't ported Border Down to anything else, chances are likely that we'll see a DC port.gingerj wrote:Is this the last of the DC shooters now? I can't recall any others being in development?
MileStone really haven't said anything in regards to Rajirugi, but I think they'll repeat what they did with Chaos Field: initially do a DC port and perhaps later follow it up with a GameCube port.
I think pretty much any NAOMI shmups will get a DC port, if nothing for the fact that it's very cheap to obtain the liscnecing from Sega to produce the production run and it requires very few sales to be profitable (if Trizeal was profitable with an anemic 2000 copies, then selling 5000 or better must be more than enough for these smaller companies).
I tried the game today for half an hour, and if I still had a Dreamcast, I would buy it now. I even consider this a buying reason for a Dreamcast, more so than Ikaruga. It feels fresh, something of a mixture beween Raiden, Shienryu and Battle Garegga, but still fresh enough. The graphics look incredibly drab, the controls are floaty, the game suffers serious slowdown, but it´s a genuine challenge just to survive, and incredibly hard if you´re trying to play for score. Experimenting with different weapon combinations and their effect on rank is fun, and I didn´t even see any of the secrets. Great stuff. Still can´t believe that this comes from the people who did XII Stag.
Did you play in tate or yoko? I have heard the controls feel a lot different--I thought in tate they were spot-on.raiden wrote: The graphics look incredibly drab, the controls are floaty, the game suffers serious slowdown, but it´s a genuine challenge just to survive, and incredibly hard if you´re trying to play for score.

Some of us at DCS are putting together a thank you page/letter to send to triangle service for all the shit they went through to put out this great game.
If you don't know how to use wiki, I put in some intructions at the bottom of the page.
here's the link http://www.dreamcast-scene.com/index.ph ... ceThankYou
Hope to see some signatures and pics!
peace,
Kingbuzzo.

yep they reopened yesterday and were totally wiped, and yes are "import" friendly nowpostman wrote:Hey - check out the rankings page. Looks like they reset it, and also changed the tabs to English!
I think since the contest is over, they left the board for players to just keep adding scores..........

I was actually just thinking; This is one of the first instances that I've (personally) experienced, where I felt as though Japanese developers didn't seem to mind so much they people outside Japan were importing their games. I mean; I know that most would appreciate it if more people enjoyed their game as opposed to less, but I still always have this little feeling like I'm being rude or overstepping my privileges... So, it's nice to see that "country" list, as it makes me feel a little less worrysome. They did write an S.O.S. in English, but, still...
(I also like how Hong Kong is a country, now. Tee hee.
)
I'm wondering if the English text is alienating to Japanese gamers, though. I know that in most cases, English is supposed to be cool, but I personally would feel comfortable and welcome with a hybrid version of what they had before with what they have now--Even if all that they had before was English words, in katakana...
Anyway! One of the things that I was trying before switching my TV back to YOKO, actually, was trying to get a feel for the XIISTAG ship--I was playing stage one over and over, trying to figure out how in the world XSK got 759 K... After playing around a bit, I can see how it would be possible (but hard!). If I start to get anywhere near decent when playing with the ship, maybe I'll try taking it for a spin in arcade mode.
By the way raiden, I felt something very similar when playing the game for the first time... It simply has this certain feel about it, where it comes off as being a DC "must-have" -- Or as you put it, a reason to have a DC!
Oh, and, I decided to try that Windows Lifting x3 game again, after now knowing what it is that you're supposed to do (and getting the hang of it on the DC). Even though the hitbox seemed to have been fixed from version 0.55 to 0.56, it still seems way off in comparison to the (preferable) version on the DC. Speaking of the Windows mini-games; It'd be sort of neat if XIISTAG Limited was included in the DC Trizeal somewhere as a (well-)hidden bonus, but then again, the package is practically bursting with content as it is.

I might be completely missing something or misunderstanding you, but the XIIStag ship IS in Trizeal. You have to enter some code to play as it.icepick wrote: Speaking of the Windows mini-games; It'd be sort of neat if XIISTAG Limited was included in the DC Trizeal somewhere as a (well-)hidden bonus, but then again, the package is practically bursting with content as it is.
RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!!!!
I think Icepick's referring to the actual game being included, not just the ship. It was a misconception before Trizeal came out that XIIStag would be included too but it only turned out to be the ship that was playable.jp wrote: I might be completely missing something or misunderstanding you, but the XIIStag ship IS in Trizeal. I've put in about 5 hours into Trizeal. I've made it as far as the end of stage 4 on 1 credit. The end of stage 5 is a mother. My higest score is 2.1 million.
I really dig the game. The slowdown is fairly heinous but helpful in many situations. I like the way the weapons get added together as you power up. The blue twin laser, fully powered up with the little laser missles, is my favorite by itself - especially against the Stage 2 boss.
I can't say that this is a great game, though. It's rough, a bit clunky, and not very pretty (with the exception of the boss & bomb explosions - very nice!). It feels a bit undercooked but it's still a treat to play.
Is it worth the money? That's up to you and your wallet. I'm just glad that I'm able to help support current & future DC shump development.

Well my copy should finally be here this week, pretty cool seeing as how just two weeks ago I had my entire JPN DC collection up for grabs on eBay. No takers though, and fortunately, another wasy out of the situation presented itself, so I had to order this. Got to say though, due to this thread I'm WANTING to like this game so much it hurts. Just sounds like qn absolute blast.
