I'm planning to buy an Xbox 360 in the next few months. I have no intention of (and no budget for) buying an HDTV any time soon, so I have two options for hooking up the console. I can either use my 24" Panasonic Quintrix 16:9 TV or my 15" 4:3 1024x768 Hyundai L50S TFT monitor. Please bear in mind that all the hardware in question is UK standard.
I'll be getting a Premium 360, the UK version of which I believe includes a component cable with a SCART adapter. My TV doesn't have separate component jacks, so I'll have to use the adapter. Will I get an RGB signal through that SCART adapter or does it end up as S-Video or (God forbid) composite?
My other option is to buy a VGA cable and hook it up to my aforementioned PC monitor. Can the 360 be set to output in 1024x768 and would that cause a performance hit versus 720p?
Also, all the ports on both my TV and monitor are already accounted for, so I'll either need a splitter or just keep switching cables back and forth all the time. Can anyone recommend good lag-free splitters either for RGB SCART or VGA (preferably ones that don't cost the earth)?
Lastly, my preference at the moment would be to use my TV, but I've heard that some early 360 games (Dead Rising?) have illegible on screen text when viewed in 480i. Are there any newer games that have this problem, or have developers got their act together?
Any info appreciated.
Of Xbox 360s and cables

Dead rising got a patch for that, because players got all in a tizzy, and you know how vocal we can be these days...Daigohji wrote: Lastly, my preference at the moment would be to use my TV, but I've heard that some early 360 games (Dead Rising?) have illegible on screen text when viewed in 480i.
