Yes, it's good. It has been discussed before, just search for it. And by the way, while Slap Fight MD really is rare, price is not an indication of rarity, just of demand.
All Toaplan conversions by Tengen were produced in very limited numbers; the rarest may be Snow Bros (there are claims that only 2000 were made, though I haven't seen anything official).
Also, there are several Mega Drive games which are very expensive in Japan, while the same games are worth very little in their western incarnations, for instance The Ooze and Spiderman Maximum Carnage.

That Slap Fight auction went for 71 Pounds (about $145). I bidded on it and didn't make it.
Oh well it was a little too high for my taste.
I love Slap Fight on the Megadrive. Not only you get the original version of Slap Fight but there's a new version of Slap Fight (Slap Fight MD) as well (with music from Yuzo Koshiro of Street of Rage fame). OOOO two games in one, I like that.
Snow Bros. on the MD is a good conversion from Tengen but it's not $200 good. I think they're more than 2,000 copies made, but not that much.
Most Tengen games did have limited print runs in Japan (Paperboy, James Bond 007, etc). I see Road Blaster and Rampart going for cheap in Japan so at least these games sold well.
Just about all MD Acclaim games are rare in Japan. Other rares include Pengo (yes Pengo was ported onto the MD and it had a limited print run), Ristar, Comix Zone, and more. They all cost a lot because Sega cut down the print run of these games (the Saturn just came out). Alien Soldier does cost a lot of money, but it's much easier to find than Slap Fight MD.
Anymore questions?

All the Tengen Toaplan ports are really awesome, with Snow Brothers being the absolute best. It's essentially a perfect port (only some very slight difference in the colors) plus alpha, as it includes 10 more stages and a password system. I'd prefer it over the PCB any day.
Even the Japanese Akklaim games are not the rarest Megadrive titles. Sega Tetris is by far the rarest, followed by a number of releases for the Mega Modem (mainly internet banking, internet bidding, and online Go games). All of these are worth well over $1000.

Sega Tetris only has like 10 or 12 copies ever made, but I don't call it official since I've never seen the box or the cartridge at all (and not the Chinese bootlegs).CIT wrote:All the Tengen Toaplan ports are really awesome, with Snow Brothers being the absolute best. And the Mega Anser (yes, Anser), no manual:

Who's ready to blow $1,200 on this sucker?
Grind Stormer/V-5 is the weakest of the three Toaplan Tengen ports (tons of sprite breakup/flickering).

A lot more than 10 or 12 were made, the question is just how many still exist today (probably in the 2-digit numbers).

Damn thanks for the photo CIT. Is it yours or you just got it from some place else?
Too bad the game plays like shit.
Got to love the Tetris screwups of the 80s.
If that photo is yours can we see the screenshot of the cartridge?
I wonder why Sega would waste their time making just a few number of cartridges?

I wish this was my Sega Tetris but it's not.
I don't have a pic of the cart, but it looks just like the cover and manual. I saw it on YAJ once, but I forgot to save the pic. It was the guy who wanted to sell his complete MD collection for 3 mio yen.
Sega made a ton of these, but as Nintendo owned the rights to all Tetris home versions (Sega owned the arcade rights) Sega was forced to cease and desist and all carts got recycled before they were shipped out. Just a few of them slipped through the cracks and survived.
