I'm pretty excited about this new 2D fighter.

Looks tasty. Anyone else seen it? Played it? Opinions?

Long live the 2D fighter.

Looks a little too Melty Blood for my tastes.
And I didn't like Melty Blood all that much.

Style all set aside, it looks about 100x better than Melty Blood. No pixelated characters, nicely zoomed backgrounds, etc. etc. I've had mine preordered for a while.

How much are you pre-ordering these for BTW, GP? I don't like the game at all, but gotta support another 2D fighter.

It's actually pretty cheap at Amazon.jp. I could probably sell them for $56 and make it worth my while. Not sure if that's any help to those that have $5 off coupons at PA. EMS shipping is $12 to the US. Not sure what PA charges for secure shipping. I don't have too much experience with them. Snail Mail to Hawaii took (no shit) about 3 weeks. Someone walked it to Tokyo and mailed from there, I'm sure.

I'm always semi-interested in a new fighting game, and this one looks kinda cool...not sure if I could stand the constant high-pitched shrieking though.

This game is so damn boring, I'd rather do anything else than fire-up AH.

Sound and music suck, graphics are high-res and all but the backdrops and character designs are not all that.

The system rocks though, and is hella fun to play if you manage to get to grips with it. Moreover, this is one of the most balanced fighting games to come out in a long time.

Must-buy if you enjoy the genre.

Yeah, Melty Blood...real quality title there.
I watched, in agony, at my friend playing this in the arcade the other day.
And how many times has he played it? Sounds like perhapls a certain Ketsui preview we're all too familiar with.

You are more interested in BF and you slam AH for being too slow?

It's the other way around, man -- Battle Fantasia is the slow one.

Really, people should hold off judging fighters until they see them played in vs. mode by two experts. Even Guilty Gear can seem slow if the players have no idea what they are doing.

Fixed. I was initially intrigued with AH due to all the hype, then I saw that it's not my cup of it, far from it. BF has waining interest since it's by Arc System Works, whom I'm not fond of either, but BF, in the brief footage I've seen looks a little interesting. Then again, I did say I like Last Blade 2, another 'slow' deemed game.

It's supposedly very good, but I don't like to fight against girls and I don't want to be one. Also the sprites seem too small for my taste.
I'll get Accent Core instead.

With objection! I never played with them, yet I did play with Jam Kuradoberi.

It's $53.99 with free worldwide shipping at Yesasia.com. You can't beat that. I preordered mine a few weeks ago. Haven't bought a fighter in ages, but this one looks fun.

I'm not even much for 2D fighters at all, but I too want to support new 2D games and would like to buy this. I might have to hold off for a little while though. For one thing, I'm about at the end of my cash rope. For another, this game is in a cab right next to Mushihimesama Futari at this arcade I go to sometimes. While I'm playing Futari, there's amost always this 60-something Japanese guy with a long white beard and a bag full of instant ramen sheepishly feeding coins into this. He always selects the girl with the huge rack. I need to make sure that I won't become this guy before I buy this game.

For those still on the fence about this my review is up here:

The videos I uploaded are all top-level tournament matches, so you don't even need to read a word. Just watch them and you'll see what's so great about this game.

I'm still really into Melty Blood and to a much lesser extent Accent, but i'll prob swipe this when the price goes down a bit.

On a realated note, the official Hori AC stick is absolutely gorgeous. Kind of wishing I pre-ordered one now :(

Melty Blood is pretty okayish, but I prefer Guilty Gear Accent Core to it any day. Big Bang Beat is a lot of fun too ^_^ Love the combo fighters.

Anyone able to comment on how the port turned out? I know the JP release of GGXX-AC was chock full o' bugs, hopefully this one at least didn't screw up whatever was in the arcade version, though console-only extras are always nice...

I just got my copy today (it came with some goofy pre-order drama CD). The game looks identical to the arcade, the loading times are minimal. I whipped out a few massive combos and the gameplay felt tight. Not a bad game. I haven't played the Arcade version so I can't comment on how accurate the port's gameplay is in comparision.

The arcade runs at 480p. AFAIK, this is 480i only. Kind of bad.
