for cave PGM pcbs (galuda, ketsui, doj) i gather that the lithium battery is used just for saving the settings. if i want to replace one of these, i don't have to do any crazy swapping techniques (ala cps2), just power down and replace, yeah?
and for the SH3 games, i gather that the scores are somehow saved to the boards themselves and the battery is for timekeeping etc. or is that the scores already achieved are written to the board, but you need a battery to save over with new scores? or is it something else entirely?
for sega st-v, i gather that the mobo should keep your scores provided you don't change the cartridge that is placed in there. but my silvergun keeps losing it's saves. so is it a combination of having the same game inserted into the mobo, and a new battery that's needed?
are the seibu SPI boards the same?
and what about neo geo mvs? i have a four-slot, and basically each slot is used for two different games, always the same games for the slots (i read somewhere that the mobo needs to have the carts re-inserted into the previous slots for it to save properly). do these mobo's have lithium batteries as well that need periodic replacements?
and for the early cave games, DDP, guwange, etc, where are the settings saved on these boards?
****
sorry for so many question en masse, but losing my scores on silvergun every day is annoying and my ketsui battery has gone i think (i always prefer to have demo sound turned off), so thought i'd ask what else might need replacing in the future and get it all done in one foul swoop

any and all help is much appreciated
