Is $75 too much for cartridge-only Power Strike II??...

Post by dave4shmups »

I'm looking for this game and a guy on gametz.com has one, but it's only the cartridge. I e-mailed him and he's asking $75 for it-is that too much? It is a rare shmup, and a must-have shmup for me. This person does have a 99.2% positive overall rating on the site, and the condition of the cartridge is listed as excellent.

Even taking rarity into account? I've hardly ever seen this on Ebay.

Hmm. I'd say that if your willing to pay $75 for it, do so, but it's at least 15-25$ overpriced.

Ok, thanks for the advice everyone! But where should I be looking for this game, other then gametz.com and Ebay-or are those pretty much the 2 best sites for doing so? I guess I could try craigslist.

Yeah, Power Strike II shouldn't cost you more than $50 complete, and less when it's just a bare cartridge. It's a rare game, but it's not that rare.

I suggest you try some European eBay site. The Master System was much more popular there than in the US, so even rare games like Power Strike II are bound to show up more often. They are often much cheaper, too.

Didn't see it was cartridge only. Only pay 20-30 then.

Check ebay.co.uk, ebay.de, ebay.fr, ebay.es, ebay.nl and ebay.it

If the sellers don't specify, email them and ask them if they would ship to the US.

Ok, thanks CIT, will do! :D I still wonder if someone on Craigslist has it, but probably not-like you guys said, the SMS was more popular in Europe.

Actually I paid about $75 shipped for my complete copy a few years back.

But I suppose I was desperate for it then.

I paid 29 € for a complete copy a couple of years ago. And I don't regret one cent.

Give it a few weeks and then it´s about the equivalent of $75. ;)

Depends on how bad you want it...I probably would not pay that much. Try searching around a bit more.

That's what I did first, and I loved it! :D

I really like the first Power Strike, but there is some bad slowdown in parts. Or maybe that's just with the PAL release. :?:

the NTSC version of Power Strike definitely has its share of slowdown.

As for Power Strike II... I thought that one was released ONLY as a PAL version. So I would expect finding one for sale in the US would not be as likely.

Too expensive, play it on emulator, get GG Aleste II for less money instead, etc.

How hard is MSX Aleste 2 to get a hold of, and what does it usually go for?

It's not impossible to grab one under $100. I've seen them around relatively often (underline keyword: relatively).

Keep in mind that it's on floppy.

Also, relatively unrelated to Power Strike II when it comes to gameplay.

I had a complete copy of PSII - I sold it on Ebay a couple years back for around $80.

IMO it's not worth it. The game is neat as a curiosity, but it's not all that exciting to play.

Mine was Australian, BTW, so you might be able to find a copy from someone over there.
