How rare is Dodonpachi for Playstation?

Post by aphexacid »

Im trying to justify buying this version of DDP. i already own the saturn version, but i do love the game.

I'm wondering if this was low production, or rare in general. something to make it a bit appealing.

I do know this is pretty much the version to have. i'm trying to see whats what from a collectors view.

thanks!

Here: Board FAQ
Read that. Look under the 'Topics to Avoid' section, there should be 3 links to DDP comparison threads.

Concerning rarity specifically... I doubt it's rare, but people will pay the prices it goes for.

Yeah, my question is just how rare, if at all the PS1 version is. i feel like more than $50 bucks is too much.

I see it on eBay all the time. the most I've seen it go for is around $160 (ridiculous) and the least I've seen it sell for is $40.

Wow. yeah, thats way more than i think its worth. i cant find any info on it being an actual rare game.

I'm getting into the PS1 shmups late, i bought all of the high dollar ones so far. no way to play them yet though lol.

DDP on PS1 just doesnt seem worth it for that price tag.

thanks for the info

That's because it's not rare, at all. Some people are just stupid. If you actually look for it and you're patient, you'll be able to get it for under $50... and probably sell it to some uninformed chump for double that :D

Yes, a portal into idiocy and ignorance, where buyers either don't know how much games have been selling for or don't care. Then again, it certainly will take some luck and patience to find a copy for $50. It's not too rare and not in too high of a demand currently.

It isn't like Cave is seeing any of that $100+ the game goes for.

Why does everyone blame the dealer for selling something as high as someone will pay?

Sorry, didn't mean to block your sale.

Yeah, prices can get a little insane on ebay. All you need is two buyers going ape shit over some game that hasn't been on ebay for a while and the game will go for some crazy price.

The worst case I've seen was a copy of Raiden DX go for a little less then $100, plus shipping. I got my copy (mint and complete) for about $18 in Japan

Anyways, from what I've seen the average price for DPP should be around $60-$70.

Terrible to hear that our once safe streets now have people who force gamers, at gunpoint, to make unfrugal purchases.

There are plenty of things that go for far under value, too. Of course we can't talk about that here.

The game is what someone is willing to pay. Expect to pay premiums on ebay. Sometimes with luck and patience, a good deal can be found.

For me,
DonDonpachi (PSX) - I pay $50 (thanks NTSC-J)

Raiden DX (PSX) - I pay $21 +ship on ebay

I seen some games sell for too much money, $80 Grind Stromers, $200+ Hyper Duel, $300 Eliminate Down, and I see games sell cheap like $80 Radiant Silverguns, and $40 Battle Gareggas.

If you do not think that DoDonpachi is worth $50+ then just don't buy it. Wait til one comes along at the price you wish to pay.

I think DDP is worth $50 as far as what you're getting for your money. At the same time thought it isn't rare enough to warrant that price.

Expect to pay at the very least $80 for a complete/pristine DDP for PS1.

Worth the money? Yes. So you're not getting screwed if you pay somewhere in the $80-$95 range.

Is there some issue here that I'm missing?

I paid $70 shipped for a mint copy no spine.

Some of the Japanese shops sell them as low as $40.

I payed 70.00 in total for mine, then again I payed 50.00 for Hyper Duel new and 70.00 for radient silvergun new....
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Which, realistically speaking, was a nice price.

I paid about 75 Euro or near that a few years ago for it. Don´t even like it much, but feel ok about the price anyway.

Wow, a brand new and sealed copy of SPS's DDP for that particular asking price -- that's almost more than twice the amount of the usual going rate for such a used 'barebones' arcade Jamma DDP PCB itself! WTF!?

For some folks, "disposable income" isn't an issue these days...shmups ain't a cheap hobby these days when it comes to dealing with arcade PCBs and console ports. ^_~

I sold DDP with spine 2 years ago for $80+.
