Cave shooters

Post by Palmer Eldritch »

Does a complete list of Cave shooters ported to home consoles exist?

Cheers,

Thanks a lot.

Has there been no word of a Ketsui port at any time?

Nothing has ever been mentioned. There was some confusion when a super play DVD came out though. I don't expect there will be conversions of older Cave games, although I'd love to see Dangun Feveron and, obviously, Progear.

The only lacking Cave ports are the Saturn ones, and even DDP is good as long as you play it in TATE. All other ports are great.

Its not really as bad as some will say. Its just that the load times are kinda long...longer than they should be.
Do what I do...drink a beer in between the loading of the stages! Usually, I just play it on MAME0X on my XBOX though.

Are you sure? I know that PSone version of DDP has a strange slowdown button...

I think that for DP and DDP is really better to play with mame!

DDP on PSX is the best of the two ports. And it's really good.

Perhaps, but you don't get the Saturn-exclusive stage in MAME.

Actually there's more problems with it than that. I know level 3 has a TON of slowdown in the saturn version and the sounds is really bad. That doesn't mean unplayable, or even 'not fun', and it is the only way to go if your gonna play it in yoko; but for tate, the psx version fixes all those problems.

As far as the slowdown button on DDP for the PSX, that's a 'cheat' button, not a defect in the game.

Glad to hear it-- it's in the mail thanks to Play-Asia.

So is Esprade not by Cave, then? Isn't it related to Espgaluda?

I had the saturn version, but not for the extra fake stage...I really don't like it.

ESP Ra.de is indeed by Cave, it was made a few years earlier...I believe it's supposed to take place in the same "world" as Galuda (although it plays very differently), though many centuries earlier.

Really? I thought the extra stage is kinda neat. The apocalyptic and ruined fiery/lava background is nifty.

IIRC, mame plays DDP around 80% speed, heard that on this site and also on marp.

OK, so it just never received a port. Somehow I had it in mind that ESP Ra.de was available for some console or other, and that I was just having bad luck finding it on EBay.

- 80%? Absolutely not!
It's an old discussion, i think. But the latest versions of MAME plays the Cave games correctly. Better than a SAT/PSX port, imho.

- For the extra level...i think i hate it only because... it's not original :)

- Galuda is the prequel of Ra.De., in the timeline of the "Esp world"

So which part of Japan does Galuda take place in?

ESPRade takes place in Tokyo. I don't think Galuda does. I don't deny the connection, I just don't think it's in locale. :)

You're right. Maybe Galuda takes place in an ancient age. But I don't really know at the moment...
