The game looks exciting but as said before the explosions take out visible huge chunks of the screen. It blocks the minuscule shots of the enemies. I think that there is just too much to look at at once. Using absurd resolutions and small sprites doesn't really work well for this genre. If you take a look at the screenshots notice how the enemy bullets are very soft and wispy. Where is the center or hit box? It's like finding a pebble in a cotten ball.

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.
The one thing that video tells me is it won't be fun or engaging to play.
It looks far too confused and its got that typical euroshmup problem where the design and placement of on screen items is a second thought due to the sheer number of things happening onscreen.
i for one support any shmup development on any platform. i'll probably check this out when it's released. as for tiny bullets and and "too much" going on...
seems like realistic warfare to me.
granted, this is a game. we want games to be fun and not challenging.. wait.. challenging and fun!

That's what I was thinking ever since I saw the first screenshots. The backgrounds are far too detailed and the foreground elements don't stick out enough. Suggestion: Tone down the colour saturation in the backgrounds.

I don't think it means that. Looks like it flashes that when you destroy enemies in groups (chaining).
I think it looks awesome, but it sucks, IMO, that it's PC only, because I don't know if our PC can even run it. I don't know if our CD-ROM drive is fast enough, and we'd probably have to get a new graphics card, which wouldn't be worth it for one PC game.
Too bad, because I LOVE Euro-shmups.

Nein! Es sieht aus wie ein Haufen Scheisse!
(No! It looks like a turd!)

Otherwise you can add bad hit detection to the list of offenses.
No, they just played with cheats (Notice the flashing "invincible!" on the top part of the screen). It´s not bad hit detection - they just suck at their own game. I am not sure what´s worse.
On a sidenote, I am not completely against so-called euroshmups, I am really looking forward to Nanostray 2, and the trailers music reminds me of it. The main problem I have with the trailer is that most of the stuff onscreen is so tiny.

It´s getting a PS3 downloadable release later on as well in case you didn´t know that already.
Awesome, but that's probably only for the EU and JP PS3's-but then again, the PS3's region-free. That would ROCK! I'm already peeing myself over the shmups on the PSN, and, IMO, this will make a great addition!!

Hehe, this comment made me smile
How old is your PC? I think the last time I was worrying about the speed of my CD-ROM was with Rebel Assault, somewhere in the 90s
Considering the fact that something like Raiden 3 runs nicely on any half decent system ( with a real graphics card and not the onboard crap they put into many of the laptops...) I don't think you'll need a state of the art PC for this.
Well as long as this thread is current again I think the price is a bit high. Given this is PlayAsia and they do love insane prices but bear in mind that this is a new game in an unexistant series. Graphically some desaturation would help as mentioned and the effect of realism is lost through prerendered graphics with inconsistant light. I think people may be giving this game some hard crits but this is to be expected given the price tag.

On topic: You have to increase visibility (background/foreground, explosions/particles/shots). Using bright and saturated neon-colors for shots is mandatory.
"We didn't know" will not be a valid excuse. We told you.
The price for the PC version is kinda surprising, I agree. Especially if you consider that the PSN price should be much lower.
Btw, Schatten's suggestion sounds nice...desaturation would definitely help. Still hope for a demo
Unfortunately doesn't seem likely. I emailed asking about a demo and it's not in their plans. Which is rather shortsighted I think... I would certainly feel more comfortable trying this out before I spend $50.
