Nexzr!

Post by louisg »

There are probably already several dozen Nexzr threads, but I felt it was time for a brand spankin' new one. I got this game pretty recently, and have been really digging it. Though it starts out sparse, it soon gets pretty hectic-- the very beginning of stage four repeatedly wrecks me. One thing I wish they hadn't done though is make some of the weapons so powerful. For example, in the fast-scrolling bit of stage 3 near the end: If you have the side-missiles, you don't have to deal with the enemies in the corridor.

What's your take on the whole thing?

Caravan mode FTW! :D

Anyways, I find Nexzr to be a fine game. I really like the caravan mode alot, however, I have the version which is the game only (played ubersaurus' copy which had the caravan mode).

I actually prefer Recca overall in the aspect of gameplay, but enjoy Nexzr very very much! Naxat is pump out some fine games!

Probably my favorite PCE Shooter. Everything is so slick and nicely designed, and the Soundtrack is ridiculously catchy.

Once you have everything memorized you can just breeze through the game though, but it provides really nice challenge for 1-2 days until you've worked out all the tough sections. Stage 6 reminds me of Ikaruga a lot.

OI! I discovered this shmup a week ago and here you are talking about it. It's a sign that I must get it. I saw a video on YouTube and I now want it.

So far I really like this title. I plan to return to it later this year to get a better sense of what it's like. I don't think I've gotten beyond the second level in the little time I've spent, and I hear it gets even more interesting in later stages.

I'm sure you've heard of the PC Engine CD-Rom2 Interface Unit for use with the Japanese PCE console, right?

Or you could pick up a PCE Duo/Duo-R/Duo-R+ variants & play Nexzr the way it was meant to be played. Sure, a Turbo Duo will play Nexzr just fine without the need for a convertor -- however, one will need such either a Murai "boxy" Hu-Card convertor or a Kisado convertor to play such Japanese Hu-Cards on a TG-16 or Turbo Duo gaming platforms..... ^_~

For Sonic-R,

Think TKGB_Mental Gear was pulling our leg when he asked what the PCE was? Or perhaps he truly doesn't know or heard of it until now... ^_~

It's gotta be one of the two -- which is it?

Gotta love the above post with a lovely Duo + copy of Nexzr pics = shmup bliss... ^_~
