modifying a namco fighting stick to 4-way?

Can anyone offer any advice on how to convert one of these sticks to a 4 directional stick??? weird question I know but it's actually for work...

Considering how little space you have inside, unless it accepts a Sanwa/Seimitsu restrictor methinks you'll have to replace the stick.

I could be totally wrong, however. ...and you might just be able to pop it open and build your own gate.

oh I also have a sega ps2 virtua stick as well, i could use that if easier to mod
