I just got a Sony PVM-2530 today and I'm having problems trying to use the left side (I'm trying to increase the brightness).
On the back of the TV I got the remote and manual switch on.
When I press the control button on the right side of the TV it doesn't do anything.
The remote works, and I used to switch the video mode by pressing the buttons.
Even with the remote off and the manual on it doesn't do anything!
Hell even with the manual button on from the back I can't change the volume (I can only do that by the remote). If I shut off the remote and manual buttons from the back I can't do anything. If I shut off the remote and put on the manual I still can't change the volume!

I just checked my 2030 and it's set to Manual On and Remote Off. All I do is just hit Control and then all of the other buttons light up and it's good to go. Normally I don't think you can adjust the other options until you hit Control... but that might just be the 2030.
Your control button on the TV might be broken unless there's something else I'm missing... I'm guessing the remote doesn't let you adjust what you need to adjust?
