The one suggested at the end of the video? Actually, now I look at it again, it actually says 2007/9/23 which is tomorrow, and than something about the HEY arcade. This moon language means nothing to me.

Well yeah, there's the Cave festival starting tomorrow and that's where you'll be able to download the Ketsui DS demo and play it for 8 hours (after which it becomes disabled). You need to bring a DS there to play it.

Not sure there'll be any actual announcement at this festival regarding the release of Ketsui DS, however. All they've said is they're going to let people download and play it and answer some questions about it.

Mihara has some stuff to say about the demo. It seems to relate to the scoring system and restrictions on the demo ver - my Japanese fonts are being retarded atm so I don't feel like trying to translate it.

If you haven't already, check out Rikaichan for firefox. Incredible Japanese-English dictionary (just run your cursor over the kanji and hey presto)

Well, here's the run down (of the download version --- the full version was demoed but I didn't line up for it).

-Proximity bonus is still in effect, but you don't have to use your shot. In fact, your laser is the only thing that generates the chips, so you have to be directly under whatever you're shooting to get points.
-Biggest points are given when you destroy a life bar.
-Bombing turns bullets into chips. So yes, you can exploit it and get a much higher score than someone that gets further
-Has a replay feature.

It was painful. Had I not had to queue for 3 hours, I wouldn't have played it. This might be the one Cave related thing I just flat out don't buy. I've only bought about 5 DS games total though.

Let's put it this way. I still play Nanostray on occasion when I'm away from home and have the DS on me. NANOSTRAY. Of course, I have to be in desperate need of some shmup action, but it's been known to happen.

So "eh, at least I can shmup on the bus." is quite alright with me =D

Erm, same with me. I don´t know why I am such a sucker for shmups on portables (HYPOTHETICAL shmups on portables, that is). While others grew up in arcades or with consoles, I grew up with the Gameboy. I´d take whatever shitty watered down version of Ketsui is coming. (Oh god. Even with THAT d-pad.)

Indeed. Thanks for taking the time out to report, GP. And while it's not exactly the glowing review I was hoping for, it still sounds intriguing. Can't wait to try the full version!

The guy who was with me (a poster at gamengai) seemed to enjoy it. As a student, there's no way he'll own the game, and probably won't be able to play it very competitively as his local arcade is 100 yen a pop. He said he'd gladly pick it up. Then again, I can't play anyting w/o my stick either, so that D-Pad didn't help.

I actually still have the demo loaded until tomorrow. I couldn't post any video that's better than what's on Youtube though.

I' d like to buy another DS game

I think it's been over a year now

GBA > DS

probably because I prefer SNES and arcade type games over the gimmicky stylus games

stil, I think this will be a blind purchase for me

is there a release date? (probably been posted but I'm not going to dig through this thread)

but you'd probably have to sacrifice your DS

makes me wish it were heading to the PSP instead, since it's very easy to display it on a TV screen now
