Say what? I thought ESPG1 was by far one of the easiest Cave shooters I've played, way easier than Mushi on any difficulty (but then I didn't really play Original very much). ESPG gives you 4 min-power bombs and 250 gems each time you die, not to mention you can charge your bombs to basically beat any boss form for free. Plus you can use the scoring system in Galuda to make the game easier (clearing bullets or using Over on some boss forms).

Of course if you are talking about the Arrange modes or scoring systems then, well that's a different story I guess.
I guess the better visible hitbox in Mushi makes it much easier for me. I suck at shmups without visible hithox, at least until I practice ages.
Also, the whole gem/slowmo/scoring system is nice, but it takes my attention away from staying alive all too often.

I was actually comparing Normal Espgaluda to Arrange Mushihime though, so I may be wrong if you go for Normal mode in Mushi as well.

The PS2 port removes the glitch in the PCB where a lot of multipliers on the screen at once caused a moment of "screen garbage". So the PS2 version actually looks better than the PCB.

Other than what EOJ noted, a human won't be able to tell the difference. And you get a wicked arrange mode an replays to boot.
