I am sorry guys, but I am going to retreat from this year's STGT.
I have already been discussing that with DJI in the beginning of the week. And he is going to continue the STGT for everyone.
Why this sudden decision? Well, I have been somewhat down since the start of this event and didn't pay that much attention to everything. But I thought this was just a downed phase and that it would go away during the STGT. But it didn't happen. I have fallen into some kind of depression. And as a result I have let my studies become really bad and are now afraid of failing there. Also my socializing became somewhat lacking and I have drunken too much alcohol reccently. Oh, and I am still meeting with that girl I once mentioned, but she is not really the reason of this situation.
Well, whatever I will probably start to get better sooner or later. But when I have really trouble getting my real life sorted I don't really find this online-responsibility important at all. And since there are 2 organizers involved, I can simply take a break without spoiling the event for everyone involved. Which, maybe despite from a few unneccessary loud critizers (4-5 people), the majority of the paritipants seem to enjoy.
Actually I told DJI that I'll still finish this week since I already opened the thead, but I'd actually like to ask you (DJI). If you could be so kind to take also care of this scoring week. My last update in this thread was up to my post on the third page of this thread:
http://shmups.system11.org/forum/viewto ... ht=#278524
I know it is no fun, esspecially when that's such a big update. But may I ask you to update all the scores and post the list in this thread. I can quote your list on the first page to keep the thread going.
Thanks and sorry for my bad performance this year. I think I'll be back to normal next year.

Hey Edge, it's perfectly fine if you want to drop out, as we already mentioned in our HQ. We all understand if there's other stuff going on. In any case, thanks so much for you hard work in organizing the event!
However, is it possible to recruit a replacement player for our team if somebody leaves? Or is that against the rules?

Yeah, take care Edge, hope stuff gets better to you.
I enjoyed the game more when I switched from PS2 to Mame. Should be playing on Saturn though
I use hardware auto-fire, so it doesn't mind me too much. Though the PS2 version runs slower... It makes the 1st level incredibly boringI guess there's no way to enable the increased autofire rate on the PS2...figures, it allows you to adjust the rank progression settings but not this, thanks a bundle Taito. Not only do I have to expose my shoddy skills to a game (frankly, a series) I dislike in the first place, but I have to do it with a handicap. Razz

Yes. Dodge the bullets.anyone have any good tips for the bullet spam when neon light illusion opens his or her tentacles?

When I was messing around with different routes to see which one would grant me the 1LC easier (and just give me the final bonus and rely on that, instead of milking bosses or whatever), when I got to level M (and for some reason I had never entered that level before)... when the level begun, it was incredibly easy and with 15 seconds it came the "WARNING"... so I just thought "HEY! This level is EASY and SHORT! It's perfect!" .... and when the name "Titanic Lance" showed up, I though "Uh-oh, I got screwed...."Shocky wrote: You know what really sucks? Oh, and I think if we are accepting Darius Gaiden as a legit score system, we shouldn't leave Compile out anymore (Well, unless we keep mame-centric forever). because I can't see compile end of game bonus as worse than this.

The best part is the obscure rank system as an attempt to compensate for shitty and hideously unbalanced level difficulty progression.

Hope you´ll feel better soon Edge.
I know how deep depressions can go, but as the saying goes:
there´s sunshine after the rain (corny, but true).
Thanks for all the hard work!
Also, sorry for not being much of a help with game selection and all (just noticed I was mentioned to be doing that...
)
Would offer to help out DJI, but with me being on holiday from early next week on that´s not really an option...

Before this contest started, I hated going up against Titanic Lance. It always cost me all my ships in reserve, and usually a continue. But now? Now I've made Titanic Lance my bitch.Shatterhand wrote:When I was messing around with different routes to see which one would grant me the 1LC easier (and just give me the final bonus and rely on that, instead of milking bosses or whatever), when I got to level M (and for some reason I had never entered that level before)... when the level begun, it was incredibly easy and with 15 seconds it came the "WARNING"... so I just thought "HEY! It pretty much evens out. Titanic Lance makes for some decent points on that stage, but the stages that you have to choose from afterwards weren't too rewarding when I played through them regularly.
Edit: Plus, there's no midboss on TL's stage, so that costs you a nasty chunk of change.

No idea why I'm even submitting this score since Team Sweden already has three fantastic scores up, but...
At least I've gotten better at capturing. And actually one-lifed up to zone G.

My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself
<Despatche> you've been a thorn in the shmups community since the beginning, you're largely responsible for the horrible face of modern speedrunning
