I prefer the pre-rendered look of the PS than that of the NeoGeo, but those god damn pauses/reloading times whenever you die absolutly kill the expierence on the PS.

I don't mind any of the pauses or load screens, just the lousy control compared to the Neo Geo arcade rev. In addition to MVS, it is also avaiable for the Neo Geo CD console, BTW.

Whoa those side-by-side screens make the PS1 looks sexah.
Unfortunately, I only have the Genesis version under my belt. If you guys think the PS1 loading is bad, stay away from the Genesis port...graphics look awesome, as is the music, but the slowdown, man.
Although the PS1 version looks damn good, it doesn't play that well. The framerate isn't that great, and as a result plays a bit choppy when compared to the MVS version.
Quite possibly the biggest reason why the PS1 port pales in comparison is the music. It's completely butchered.
The playstation version is complete, utter shit. Shit, I tells ya! Completely worthless. Sure, they fixed up the graphics but the framerate/frame skipping problems render the game unplayable. The genesis version is more playable than the PSX one.

Granted I only played it one night when I first got it (recently) but I didn't notice frameskipping (I play it on a PS2). It was worth the $2.99 I paied for it used at gamestop. I stopped playing after that night because of the pauses/loading screens everytime you die.

Yeah, I got a copy for a few bucks many years ago. The first stage isn't too bad, but starting about midway through the second, it becomes ridiculous. I'd really like to see a superplay of the PSX version simply to see how awful it gets later on, since I've only seen up to the crab boss.
NG all the way, I have both, but play the Neo-Geo CD version on my PS2
via an emulator, absolutely perfect.
And I have to say, the best soundtrack ever, always in my top 5 game music
list, along with Numan Athletics.
I think the Ps versions music is ok, but nowhere near the wonderful, over the
top, James Brown sampling sexiness that is the original.
More James Brown in shoot-em-ups please, game makers.
"GOOD GOD!"
The PS1 version is dogshit wrapped in gold foil, basically.
Better graphics? Sure. Yet this is all for naught when you take some serious framerate hits. When you are at the third boss, the frame skip kicks in with a vengeance and makes the game damn near unplayable.
The load times suck. Of course the NGCD version has no ingame loading since the game is completely in RAM.
The music on the PS1 is dross. When playing the PS1 version I really missed the stage 2 BGM from the Neo version. At least the 1st stage BGM on PS1 has a rather hilarious voice sample that sounds like "It's fucking hard!".
It's Neo-CD, Neo Home Cart, or MVS all the way. Barring that, probably X68000 or FM Towns. Nothing else is acceptable.
Don't know about the NG version, but the PS versions controlls were horrible! Pressing up, made you go straight up...not up/left as would be "normal" for the viewing point (no pun int).
Was this the case with the NG version as well? In that case, both sux.

If I remember correctly, there was a way to change the controls on the PSX.

But not on the Megadrive version, iirc. This really killed the game.
Neo Geo version for me. It's a complete package of delightfulness. Also, I think I am the best Viewpoint player in the world. At least I've never met anyone better than me.
