Yeah, looking this over I feel more confident than ever in my judgment that the PS1 has a stronger line-up of shmups than the PS2.

*bookmarks Thread* 8) Keep 'em coming, I wanna get a lot of bang for my PS2 buck. Specially since I went out of my way to mod the thing.

Nice database too!

Missing:

- Oretachi Gesenzoku: Moon Cresta
- Oretachi Gesenzoku: Terra Cresta

That should cover it though, I think.

Few PAL shmups are missing.

Fren-zE (only available on UK OPS2M 54 and 55)
Shadow of Ganymede and Guerilla Strike, at least the former was released since it got reviewed.

Fren-zE is, most likely, the only one out of those three that isn't total crap.

PAL Rez' catalogue number is SCES 50501.

thanks, it seems like Ganymede and Guerilla strike were both cancelled, I had them preordered but they never made it out. Just a few review copies floating around (and isos on the internet).

Well it looks as if they were both released after all:

Guerrilla Strike

So how good are they?

Knock yourself out.

The magazines are almost three years old so finding them might prove tricky. I have the UK OPS2M 55 demo disc myself and I know someone who has 54...assuming he hasn't lost it. ;)

But if you just want to play the game, download it at the above link. It's not the same version that's in the demo discs (there's no shield or reflect mechanics there), but still.

Shadow Of Ganymede and Guerrilla Strike are shit! Absolutely. Dont ever think about buing it. Dont let screenshots fool you. Its worse than any average bland pointless Megadrive shooter. They will eat out your brain with ingredible blandness. Seriously, avoid at any costs.

Steel Dragon EX is just the PAL release of "SLPM 62395 Simple 2000 Series Vol. 37: The Shooting - Double Shienryu NTSC J ". And I seem to remember someone saying Shienryu 2 was made even easier here than it is to begin with.

And yeah, the list is much out of date.
