Which version of Aero Blasters is better?

Up to now I’ve been playing it on PC using a Mega Drive emulator, but I know it was also ported to the PC engine, and maybe some other platform?

I quite like this game and have seen a copy for both, but I’ve never played the PCE version, what’s it like? I did hear the MD version apparently does the parralax-scrolling effects better; but I haven’t played the arcade to know what stuff was missing from the MD version either.

Also wtf happened to the music? The PCE version sounds waaay too, well... Cute…?

PCE version is liberal than the MD/Arcade. The PCE version's stage 2 is very different in layout than the MD/Arcade's stage 2.

Music is better on the PCE.

Graphics are a tie.

They are both good conversions neverless.

The arcade version is the best. Just get MAME and play it there, dont bother with cut-down ports.

Personally I'd go with the Turbo version as all in all I feel it is better, especially the controls and the music.

Agreed. The sound effects are much better on PCE, as well.

Thanks for the heads up guys. That’s a nice site you found there Sonic R, it helped lots, much appreciated! Apart from the arcade, I guess the version on PCE is most preferred.

As for the music, I dunno, from the tracks I heard the MD version has a more serious tone to it, which I prefer over the ‘happier’ PCE version, but that’s just me.
