Fair enough, but, I'm going to have to throw in some common senseSo in short:
There are only 5 games on the poll, the 2 Bakraid choices are counted as one game, it's just to decide the Course if the game wins.
-My point for having two modes of the same game still stands. It's not even that good of a game (Raizing's worst, as even Raizing fans say).
-No Cave: Fair enough, but it seems plain as day to me to allow it in 2nd place week (reason: duh!) and if it wins, simply ditch it for famous manic week. Manic is a non-defined term, so anything can fit in there. If you only throw one Cave game in... it will probably not win even if it's going up against turds. Look at what one the first two weeks.
They're your rules, and I guess not completely asinine... I still don't have to agree with them though.

I actually agree with you there, it really "could" have. As the Cave/Progear haters might have united on one game. But we are not going to find that out now anyway.Rob wrote:Darius Gaiden could've won with Progear in.Edge wrote: Predictable game selection (and possible vote-winner)
The selection is not decided yet and even if it was I could only awnser you a "maybe...".Rob wrote: I figure famous manic week will have 2 Cave options (for vote splitting) so it isn't too predictable, right?
But please feel encouraged to use the stickied game selection thread to tell us the do's and don't for the upcoming threads. Also your thoughts on poll balancing are interesting for us. Offcourse we can't give you hints in advance how the final decision is going to look like.

Warning, this is NOT a vote.
Awesome, I can play Section Z, Darius Gaiden and Gunbird in this week! All thanks to PS2 crappy ports! So there are good chances that I'll be able to contribute some scores. ^_^
My preference for scoring would probably be Gunbird. But the most interesting to play would be Darius. Anyway, I see my teammates are split once again when it comes to vote, so I'll just postpone my vote until I see which game has more chances to win.

To fit the feel of the other weeks, it will look something like:Rob wrote: I figure famous manic week will have 2 Cave options (for vote splitting) so it isn't too predictable, right?
Mushihime-sama Original
Mushihime-sama Maniac
Mishihime-sama Ultra
Dodonpachi (Every extend)
Dodonpachi (Default settings)
Yes, I'm being a prick. I don't understand the whole vote splitting thing. If a game is that popular... ummm... what is wrong w/ playing it?

Gunbird. That's my vote.
This completely sucks! By taking Progear out you've made it utterly predictable that Darius Gaiden will win, so so much for the motive of making the voting more interesting.
Futhermore, by taking out Progear, you've removed the only high-quality scoring game. Really, you've removed the only high-quality game period. Brilliant move!

It's nice of you to say, but I'm afraid I'll be skipping this week if DG is chosen. I'm fine with devoting a week to a game I don't know at all, e.g. TwinBee Yahhoo and Viper Phase 1 (though I was too busy to play the latter). I'm not ok with spending a week on a game that I know I don't like.Skyrandia wrote:Dont worry. Darius Gaiden is a good game. You will love it by the end of the playing week. I promise!!

Btw, I don't want to sound like an ungrateful asshole. This tournament is one of my favorite things about the forum. I guess I'm finding it frustrating this year once again. Last year I wasn't set up for emulation, and that sucked. This year I'm all set in that regard, and I'm hating the timing of the tournament. I would really have enjoyed playing VP1, but during the first week of classes in a very busy semester? And now that I've settled into the new schedule, I see we're going to play Darius Gaiden. Lovely.

Bakraid: Top tier is reserved for people that can milk the first boss.Icarus wrote: Please tell me what you've been smoking, and whether or not it is illegal in some countries.

Darius Gaiden: Top tier reserved for those that can clear w/ remains and bombs... not as broken as the aforementioned but still... no risk/reward like Progear.
Gunbird: Just flat out sucks.. how the fuck it made 2nd place last year is beyond comprehension.
Don't know of the other two but they're not going to win anyway.

Last year people (including yourself) were complaining about the lack of console-available game selections. Now people (including yourself) are complaining about the opposite. Just no pleasing some people.professor ganson wrote:Thanks, GP. I couldn't have put it better myself. Though I can't deny having smoked something or other recently.
For Cave Week next year, lets play Ketsui on DS.
